I wonder if that’s a comment on how far great coaching can take 3 and 4 star players. In the final four you often face great coaching with even better players

It's pretty different though. The number of playoff bids the AL east receives doesn't depend on the perceived strength of the division, nor does the amount of money each team gets from ML depend on how their division-mates do in the playoffs.
But it doesn't really matter who you're rooting...
I think he's a better than average game day coach, and usually has a good staff. It turns out that experience matters. Talent can take freshmen far, but nearly as talented upper classmen will most often prevail.
We get paid for appearances in each round, so a loss is the same as a win in a given round. However, if you lose, you obviously don't get to move on and appear in another game. At this point, if you want more $$$ for the ACC, you would root for everyone to advance...
