  1. Game-by-Game Predictions

The BC game is weird being in Ireland and IMO is a little of a crap shoot due to jet lag, foreign country, distractions, and first-game-of-the-season weirdness. Their D was good last year and returns 6 guys but has a new coordinator who used a different style at UVA. So it will be interesting...

Receivers I am liking the bodies/prospects we are getting but it is scary until some of them emerge. We can't lose Jeune, and both Jeune and Stewart have started a year and need to take that next step. MLD has soft hands and size to block but is unknown. Messick has always been a...
  3. The ideal option QB?

Nesbitt had terrific speed through contact and dominated between the tackles. He would put his foot in the ground, and explode north-south shedding guys along the way but still seeming to pick up speed. He'd also do that thing at the end of the run where he'd turn around and squat and push for...

Another way to think about depth is absent injuries, how many guys will rotate into a close game to rest starters and how much drop off is there when they do? Not indicative of certain positions like QB or C where coach prefers continuity. For me at BB we have 5th year senior Marcus Allen who...
  5. #GTCamp2016

Some key injuries on the OL and certain DL & DBs would be pretty crippling, or if we lost Jeune to injury and no other WR emerges.
  6. #GTCamp2016

About a third of our scholly players last year were tr-fr. We might be a deep team this year if guys blossom sooner than later and depth isn't depleted by injuries. So it depends what happens. More likely to be deeper 1-2 years out just because of the numbers. But one never knows.
  7. AJC Update Nate Cottrell

Definitely feel like the skill position recruiting has improved. Maybe 2014 crazy good offense effect + more recruiting staff has lead to incremental improvement in this area. A lot of good looking prospects will raise competition, provide better depth, and produce more playmakers.
  8. Potential C Backs?

Synjyn played some QB, BB, & AB to garner the title "C Back". I thought it would be cool to keep track of guys who might carry the torch: Taquon Marshall - Started at AB, currently at QB, and could probably play every offensive skill position. M. Lands Davis - Started at BB, moved to AB out...
  9. AJC Update Nate Cottrell

I like him a lot too OJF. I think it's appropriate to be excited about him for sure. He just hasn't played a down and is coming off an ACL injury, plus the guys ahead of him now have experience, and Lynn Griffin and JJ Green provide more competition. So we know if NC starts this year then he's...
  10. AJC Update Nate Cottrell

NC is a good prospect. Hope he can stay bealthy so we can see what he can do. Searcy and Lynch were RS-fr w/ no experiencd and Ike is mostly blue collar consistent, so while I dont want to diminish his accomplishments NC beating those guys out is different than beating out experienced...
  11. 4 Games 19 Days?????

Clemson now actually has a really good defense which makes beating them much more difficult.

Agree. Last year with a huge recruiting class coming in almost 1 in 3 scholly players was a tr-fr. And it was likely Johnson's best class on tape. Last year was a very solid class on tape as well. We still need to improve our recruiting, but IMO the last two classes have been incrementally...
  13. Other football fans are clueless

Are you being sarcastic? Our offense clearly has quirky strategic benefits: High rated zone conversion rate. In the red zone the field is compressed limiting passing options. We are usually able to fire off the line/knock 'em back/punch it in b/c that's what we do all the time. We are really...
  14. Five most critical players this yr

How I answer depends on how "most critical" is defined: If defined by guys we can least afford to lose: J. Thomas Gamble PJ Davis AJ Gray Any starting OL due to lack of bodies If defined by guys who if they make a jump all other things equal we'll be cooking with grease: Kallon Devine AJ Gray...
  15. Marcus Marshall ACC POY

Hope to see Marshall continue to improve ball security and in pass pro. He has potential to be a very productive back I like what Marcus Allen can do when healthy and I am super high on #26. I see a committee of sorts there.
  16. Official Offseason Thread

Wow look at the juxtaposition of posts 181 & 182.
  17. Crazy wishful things you want to see

Fr Cooper as giant unstoppable B back.

Both say they will not be outworked!
  19. Sugiura: New in '16

Maybe he's grown. Doesn't look that big on his HS film, but could have bulked up. Am a fan regardless.
  20. Sugiura: New in '16

Committed to GT, and committed very early in the process. 'nuff said.
