  1. Our defense is awful...

Said it before and I'll say it again, if we can stay healthy and keep working and getting better we can be a good defense. Today we took a step. It was a good effort, and something we can build on. There is still a ton of work to do, make no mistake. I thought match up wise Vandy was more in...
  2. Vandy Predictions

I think it is bad and good for us. It's bad for all the great reasons you give above. It's good because our D is predicated on stopping the run at the expense of allowing passing yards. It will be interesting to watch.
  3. Vandy Predictions

23-17 on the strength of 3 Butker FG's.
  4. Our defense is awful...

On paper going into the season we had zero proven pass rushers and a brand new secondary. 2 new starters at backer. Not surprised at the results so far. I agree it's frustrating to watch, particularly 3rd down. I expect us to grow as a defense this year and be significantly better by the end...
  5. Never as good or as bad as it seems... and I love this GT team

Seems reasonble to me to cite historical precedent in making a point, whether the past phenomenon is positive or negative. It's like the people bitching about the number of commits before summer started. If you point out we get the bulk of our recruits each year over the summer folks get mad...
  6. Our defense is awful...

If we had great personel but were getting crappy results I'd be more worried. I see some good young talent brewing in the front seven. Unless you are getting top DL's it's going to take awhile. IMO Roof will magically get better as the Adams, Woods, St Amours, Cerges, Mitchells and Curries...
  7. Mercer Postgame

I thought Stewart could be a good judgement/sure fielding PR man who can make the first guy miss and get you 10 yds. So far he seems to be just that.
  8. Our defense is awful...

To anyone who'd listen I was jumping up and down in 2014 saying we were not a good football team and we we were destined for 7-5. That team shocked me by going to work each day and getting better. The D was still sketchy but they stopped the run and created turnovers. Going into this season we...
  9. Gameday !!

Go Jackets! Let's build on last week!
  10. Mercer preparation

Keep hanging around and getting better and stay healthy then get rollin' come the leaves comin' off...yeah we got a shot.
  11. Very curious Mike Sewak

Perimeter blocking by AB/WR was also lacking and was a big reason for overall offensive struggles as well. We need to be better across the board. I think we can get there if we keep working hard and avoid the injury bug. I like the young depth I see developing. Just gotta keep grinding.
  12. 5 reasons to think this isn't 2015 again

Lynch looked great catching it last year as well. He had a quiet game vs BC but has clearly shown he's one of the better receiving AB we've had IMO.
  13. Radio show

Listening to the radio show, it sounds like we didn't come close to playing to our potential, particularly on offense. Coach promised a much more physical offense on Saturday. Sounded very determined to make it happen, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
  14. Trouble Recruiting Legacies?

Was om Rivals when Lawson was recruited. What I recall is we tried hard to get him, but Auburn led throughout his recruitment. Was Roof Auburn's DC at the time?
  15. Radio show

BC had great personel on defense, lined up a bunch of different ways, and crowded the ball. IMO that in conjunction with first game mistakes, being oversees and playing at a weird time got us out of sorts. Obviously we didnt play like we practiced and that's disappointing. CPJ coaches the...
  16. Postgame BC

Very nice write up and the conclusion is really well-stated. It seemed like we started to get some traction late in the second half on offense. I am wondering if some of that wasn't due to the conditioning the guys did over the summer. We had the promising drive that ended in a fumble, the...
  17. Film Study Film Study - GT Offense vs BC Defense.

We all know this by now, but good to point out option teams often start slow on offense but tend to really heat up in the second half of the season. Like 2014 we need to keep surviving early and work hard to get better every week. Learn from our mistakes. The ingredients IMO are certainly there.
  18. Mills

Best Milwaukee post ever. We HAVE to win or it will be about the earliest I've ever gotten wall-eyed!
  19. Mills

What I meant above about Laskey is that he didn't master pass pro until his senior year. Days didn't prove he was secure with the ball until his senior season. These things shouldn't be taken for granted....they are not easy to accomplish or folks wouldn't struggle with them.
