    ACC Discussion 2021-22

I confess that I'm surprised by this, but with three teams in the Elite Eight, it seems that reports of the ACC's demise are somewhat premature. ;)

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

<sigh> I know. It's tired, worn-out argument long past its prime. I thought I'd trot it out one last time before putting it on a shelf for good. Thanks for all the good times, little buddy. We'll never forget you. Cheers.

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Well, that's probably as much money as some of those kids will ever see in their lifetimes...especially if they are injured, aren't drafted, or flame out in the pros. I tell myself that the Tech kids will have long and prosperous careers in the real world using their degrees which will pay them...

    Going on the Record

Just a reminder, this thread is NOT about how many CGC needs to win in order to keep his job. It's not about how many you WANT to win next year. This thread is about YOUR prediction for our win total next season. Thanks.

The ACC in the NCAA Brackets

I was editing and time expired...so here is what I preferred to post: Something I've been wondering about for the past few years... Does the NCAA Selection committee intentionally cram as many ACC teams into as few Regions as possible to avoid the possibility of an all-ACC final four? This...

The ACC in the NCAA Brackets

Something I've been wondering about for the past few years... Does the NCAA Selection committee intentionally cram as many ACC teams into as few Regions as possible to avoid the possibility of an all-ACC final four? This year, Notre Dame and Duke are in the same bottom half of the west while...

Really we’ve sunk to a new low

And here's the thing... I think there was a time when every kid in the country wanted to play in the ACC. Dean Smith was at UNC (followed by Roy Smith), Coach K was building a dynasty at Duke. Lefty was at Maryland, Terry Holland at Virginia, and of course, Bobby Cremins was earning the honor...

    Elasticity of Demand

Yes. If we do it right. We're competing with the Aquarium, Stone Mountain, rafting on the Chattahoochee...so it will take some effort. Make every home game an event. 75,000 people show up. 55,000 of them actually go to the game. The game starts at noon...the concert starts at 8:00. As I stated...

    Elasticity of Demand

I just made up some numbers to illustrate the point. At the end of the day, we need to do whatever it takes to fill BDS every Saturday in Sept, Oct & Nov. (The December game usually takes care of itself. :()

    Elasticity of Demand

^So. Totally. This. Food trucks, fireworks, facepainting, family fun. Oh, and there is a football game, too. Five Bucks. The whole city of Atlanta should know that Bobby Dodd is a fun place to be on Saturday afternoons.

Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Fair enough. I suspect that "process" that can be repeated year after year plays a huge role, too. KPI's, measurable stuff. Do we have a "system" that is generating incremental improvement? NDSU has won six straight games against FBS teams since 2010. The streak started with a 6-3 win at...

Matt Entz, HC NDSU. National FCS Champions. $396,619/year currently. But more intriguingly, Matt Larsen, AD. Five National Championships. Just throwing out ideas for discussion...all facts are friendly.

    Hire Fast, Fire Slow?

That pretty much sums up the relative states of the programs. Any questions?

    Elasticity of Demand

One challenge is that football is better on television than it is in person. you get: instant replays, multiple camera angles and close-ups, play-by-play commentary, etc., and no bad weather. You don't need as much of that to enjoy a baseball game.

    Elasticity of Demand

If fielding a winning team is the key to ticket sales, do you suppose the Braves will fill Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium this season? ;)

Anyone want to Google the budgets of the athletic departments at Tech and UGA?
