    Breakout Season?

Win 4, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Win 5, and I'm cautiously optimistic. Win 6, and I'm completely dumbfounded. Oh...win 3 or less, and I'm listening for the announcement about our next HC.

    Conference Realignment

Teasing this out a bit more... Early on, GT offers the B1G the #7 TV market for its members which adds to its exposure in the top markets nationwide. That translates into more TV revenue. Additionally, Tech is no real threat to win a game against the flagship programs. That translates into...

    Conference Realignment

Agreed. I just think it would be nice to create the possibility of programs moving up or down to keep things interesting (and honest).

    Conference Realignment

Sounds like the English football system to me.

    Conference Realignment

At this point, Tech has ONE thing to offer to ONE conference: the Atlanta market to the B1G. We're the plain-looking girl whose daddy is filthy rich. The B1G has to be willing to marry Tech for the TV revenue...and not because we're an especially attractive catch. If the schools from up north...

    Conference Realignment

So, now we have two superconferences of 16 teams each with the winner of each playing for the true National Championship. Everyone else is in a fight for first place among second-tier teams. How long will it take for Indiana or Vanderbilt to get dropped and Clemson to move up? Gee, sounds a...

And if Collins is fired, do we keep Stansbury?

For the good of college football

Don't we already have teams divided into regional groupings, athletes being paid, brand endorsements, big tv contracts, players moving from one team to the next, etc? Oh, yeah...it's called the NFL. This can't be good for college football. Now, get off my lawn. ;)

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

I met Johnny Unitas once back in the 80's. He was working for a company in Baltimore, and I was there to present some equipment to other managers. We said "hello" briefly in passing. Honestly, I wouldn't have known who he was if someone hadn't told me his name. This is what the NFL used to be...

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Expand the Ivy League with a Southern division - the Kudzu League. Play one less game. Get invited to be the other League's homecoming opponent. Win one of those games occasionally. Play COLLEGE football...not NFL G League football. Do it for fun, for resume fodder, and to give alumni something...

    ESPN says we have

I would say that the Top 25 system already divides the landscape into ranked and unranked teams - the haves and the have nots. Make it Top 24, and you have your two divisions of the D1. BTW, under this system EVERY GAME counts, because some teams are eager to move up and no one wants to move...

    ESPN says we have

I think so. We establish multiple divisions and place schools across the country into the various divisions based on enrollment, budget, past record, etc. (the first year will be the hardest to rank - after that, it's best on W-L record). Division 1 might only have 24 schools divided into two...

    ESPN says we have

Sadly, I disagree. Our problem is systemic and cannot be changed: we are a small school with rigorous academics, limited majors, and too few fan$ in the local market to compete on a level playing field with the semi-pro teams that surround us in all directions.

    ESPN says we have

Here's a great idea: why not invite all our prospects...especially the in-state kids...to that last home game every other year so they can see how full our stadium is? I'll bet last year's game has left an indelible memory like nothing else ever will.

    Going on the Record

There is one possibility that I can cling to...at least until we've played the first four games...and that is this: EVERYONE is going to assume that we are an easy W on their schedule. If the coaches can get the kids ready to play and devise good game plans, we could jump up and surprise a few...

    ESPN says we have

All of the pain with none of the gain. I've said it before: we dropped Auburn. (audible gasps heard from the crowd...a baby cries...a dog barks in the distance) Whatever. We can drop the annual loss to Georgia, too.

    NCAA Tournament

I've never understood the anti-Duke (or anti-Carolina) sentiment, and I live a few miles from both schools. Coach K is a stand up guy, he's run a very clean program over the years, built a dynasty, and don't forget brought home some Olympic gold. Is this like hating the Yankees because they...
