No, don't. I think as long as the loss happens in conference, it will help us more to have them lose and not have to worry about them beating us out for the last spot in the playoff compared to how much extra the win helps us if they're undefeated.
I was just looking at what gives Georgia Tech the best chance of making the college football playoff. For that, Georgia making the SEC championship after we beat them >>> Georgia finishing the season at 9-3 and Missouri letting the SEC West roll over them. I really don't care that much what...
As for Utah, they've played a lot tougher schedule to this point in the season. I'd put them ahead of the Jackets right now too. If we beat Georgia and Florida State though, they're no threat to us whatsoever with 3 losses. As opposed to Arizona who would almost certainly go ahead of us at 11-2...
Games that could realistically go our way:
Washington State over Arizona State (Cougs up 7-0 (y))
Arkansas over Ole Miss
Utah over Arizona
USC over UCLA
Tennesseee over Missouri
Huge underdogs we'd like to see win:
Indiana over Ohio State (down 14-13 at half)
Colorado over Oregon
Boston College...
Teams we're competing with and their chances of beating us out for a playoff spot if we win out:
Big XII champion- 97%: This would be the hardest spot to take away as our best-case scenario is that we're competing with 2-loss Kansas State, and they would stand a very good chance of beating us...
6 teams with Top 4 conference champions auto-qualifying would be best system. In that case, we'd still probably be in we won out. Would just need Ohio State to lose a game OR Georgia to win the SEC OR a 3-loss Pac-12 champion.
The playoff article is making it sound harder than it actually would be to get in. Utah, Auburn, Michigan State, and Wisconsin would all get jumped just by virtue of our more difficult remaining schedule, and Georgia would get jumped by us if we beat them. That means we'd only have to pass...
Well, as huge and as difficult of a game as it will be against the Dawgs, as fans we don't really need to focus on winning the next one first. More like root for the Trojans to do some domino-knocking this week and then we've still got another 6.5 days to get pumped up for Georgie.
Don't fight the SEC love. EMBRACE IT! It's just gonna make us look that much more awesome when we beat the SEC Champs in Athens! Good luck keeping an 11-2 GT team out of the playoff that beat the SEC Champs and the defending national champs in back to back weeks.
Assuming we win out:
If USC wins two games, Georgia Tech goes over anyone from the Pac-12.
If GT beats FSU by at least 15, Georgia Tech goes over anyone from the ACC.
If Ohio State loses another game, Georgia Tech goes over anyone from the Big Ten
If Mississippi beats Miss State and Georgia...
I'm sure I'm in the vast minority here, but as a fan from across the country who came into fandom watching Tech on television in the Godsey days, I feel like Florida State's my #1 most hated Tech rival by a bit. Beating Georgia is huge, and I want it bad, but beating Florida State and ****ing up...
