  1. Next domino in line: Arizona

Kansas State would actually still be co-champions with TCU if TCU wins as both would be 8-1 in Big XII play. It was just sloppy writing from a bad journalist that ever gave anyone the impression we want TCU to win. What we need is: 1. Oregon wins (or gets blown out) 2. Kansas State OR Iowa...
  2. Georgia Tech's potential return to national prominence

Great post. Couldn't agree more on offenses where QBs give the threat of a run and play 11-on-11 being tactically superior. Eventually, I think both the NCAA and NFL will move more that direction, but hey coaches are stubborn.
  3. Next domino in line: Arizona

You're just wrong. Even as a Georgia Tech fan, I would fully admit that we would have no argument whatsoever to be in ahead of an 11-1 TCU or an 11-1 Baylor if they both finished the season with the same record. And the committee's shown that they seem focused on putting the best team in each...
  4. Next domino in line: Arizona

This is a long way from being categorically true. If say, there are 2 spots left and the choices are 11-1 Baylor, 11-1 TCU, and 11-2 Georgia Tech, we're never ever getting in. Baylor and TCU snap up both spots all day. If there are 2 spots, and it's 11-2 Oregon, 11-2 Arizona, and 11-2 Georgia...
  5. Tech making the playoff? Easy as 1-2-3 (plus 4-5-6)

It's pretty amazing how people get trotted out as experts in front of a national audience, and can't even bother to spend 5 minutes thinking about their wild-*** guesses. Like how on earth would TCU winning help Georgia Tech? It makes Kansas State like 10% less likely to pass us if we win while...
  6. Next domino in line: Arizona

    Let's go Ducks!
  7. College Playoff Rankings

Or they're saying that they value margin of victory and not just who you beat which is why Florida State's being punished for all their close calls while Georgia Tech is still 5 spots ahead of 2-loss Missouri who plays in the almighty SEC but lost 34-0 to Georgia. If all 4 of these happen: (1)...
  8. College Playoff Rankings

I think we probably get in over Missouri anyway seeing that they only moved up one spot to #16 this week, but it's close. Would make it even more important that we beat Florida State convincingly. The key games are: Georgia Tech > Florida State (must-win LDO) Wisconsin > Ohio State (must-win)...
  9. 5dimes futures: Odds to win NCAA championship

Pretty sure it's a combination of a very good chance of Georgia Tech knocking out Florida State, and the fact that Florida State would likely be a significant underdog in their playoff games if they did beat us.
  10. 5dimes futures: Odds to win NCAA championship

As far as sports betting goes, futures aren't exactly an efficient market, but it still gives at least some idea what the oddsmakers think about the championship race. Alabama: +155 Oregon: +230 TCU: +425 Baylor: +800 Florida State: +900 Ohio State: +1200 Missouri: +3300 Arizona: +10000 Georgia...
  11. This week in 'there is a chance'

I don't see any way we pass Alabama, even if they lose, and if Arizona beats Oregon, we definitely don't pass Arizona while we might not pass Oregon either. The key games for us are Kansas State/Baylor and Ohio State/Wisconsin. As long as both of those games go right for us, we can easily end up...
  12. ACC COY: There is no debate

Thought Cutcliffe would get more recognition. I mean, he coaches at Duke. That's like the highest degree of difficulty imaginable, and they were still one game away from keeping us out of the conference championship. Don't get me wrong, I think Paul Johnson's an amazing, amazing coach who...

So so so so so so good!
  14. We made our FIRST TOP TEN! (Rankings Thread)

Sagarin rankings are pretty objective, and while I'd say they probably overrate the SEC somewhat due to over-valuing a small sample of inter-conference games between good teams, they actually have five of the top seven (!) teams from the SEC.
  15. We made our FIRST TOP TEN! (Rankings Thread)

SEC West teams are actually all underrated in the polls. Top-to-bottom, it's pretty clearly the toughest division in history. I'd have Missississippi State #6, Auburn #12, Georgia #14, and LSU #17.
  16. This week in 'there is a chance'

Wisconsin is not an issue for us at all. I fully expect the CFP committee to make a big deal out of our road win @ Georgia and move us ahead of the Badgers on the basis of that game. If they don't give it to us on that game, then surely we'll get more credit for being a 12-0 Florida State team...
  17. This week in 'there is a chance'

This 538 model is based completely off historical coaches' polls. I'd agree that we have almost no chance to reach #4 in the coaches' poll. However, the committee has specifically been tasked with including conference championships in their criteria, and has also shown a much heavier willingness...
  18. We made our FIRST TOP TEN! (Rankings Thread)

Well, it depends on how you look at I guess. If by mother, you just mean "that which gives birth" and not "that which gives the female genetic material", then sure. If a surrogate gave birth to a human baby though, I don't know that we'd necessarily consider her the mother of the child...
  19. We made our FIRST TOP TEN! (Rankings Thread)

Goat was obviously cloned in a lab somewhere.
  20. We made our FIRST TOP TEN! (Rankings Thread)

New AP poll isn't out yet. The one that has Auburn and Georgia ahead of us is from last week. When the rankings that actually matter come out (the CFP rankings), I'd expect to see the Jackets either #9 or #10. We'll definitely jump Wisconsin on the basis of that Georgia win, and there's a good...
