I'm of the belief that it's probably easier to transition a team laden with NFL talent to anything rather than a team almost devoid of P5 talent to a new scheme.
To even begin to think the defense that PJ inherited resembles the one CGC inherited...or the OL...is laughable.
Because that would mean that the ACC had/has some sort of vendetta against us or PJ, neither of which do I believe nor have you proven.
Frankly, it sounds like a paranoid rant.
so the scheme was a hindrance to our scheduling too.
Wow, so much for it being any kind of great advantage for us. It clearly didn't help recruiting and apparently resulted in biased scheduling. Good riddance!
It's only stupid because it shows that the scheme was a hindrance to recruiting, which is completely against the agenda being proffered by those who are big fans of PJ and his scheme.
The fact that recruiting never really improved no matter what success we had on the field during those 11...
More money wasn't going to overcome the effects the scheme had on recruiting and attracting more talent to Tech campus. That's been my position repeatedly and nothing has been posted to refute it. Duke runs a scheme and has a coach that attracts players that PJ's scheme did not.
You can't...
This is what you always do - change the discussion from an objective one to something personal.
Why are you (and other PJ fans) not able to have any discussion without always - ALWAYS - making it personal?
It's not denigration to point out what I've pointed out. This isn't a personal...
There are an equal # of teams that spend a ton and get nothing. I mean, at least we're not South Carolina for example.
Just dropping more money at the feet of PJ wouldn't have changed anything. The scheme was too great a hindrance.
So why did it happen? What's the reasoning behind all this mysterious, everyone-hates-us conspiracy? Why did the ACC allegedly hate PJ? or GT? Or both?
We had enough money to recruit metro ATL high schools but, from interviews with numerous HS coaches, we had zero presence locally for the past 11 years. That's not a money issue.
Your points re:recruiting are noted but I don't believe that any amount of additional $$ spent was going to change...
Respectfully (something that's lacking in a few of your replies), I've already answered that. Let me quote myself from the previous page. You likely don't agree but that is different from accusing me of avoiding the question, something I've not done.
So what I'd like to know is....how would...
Obviously we don't have the answer to that yet. I'm betting that guarantees of frosh playing time and the general attitude of the program will offset most of the negativity of this season. Fortunately, most HS kids are more interested in what they can contribute in years to come rather than...
LOL - My "proof" was a literal article that links to a $9 Million state-of-the-art practice facility that PJ asked for....and got. Where is ANY proof whatsoever of the laughable conspiracy that our AD was "out to get PJ"? What a load of paranoid nonsense.
I often see Duke used as the great...
Well, just the 08 & 09 seasons alone led to a (at the time) state-of-the-art indoor practice facility. For all the revisionist history here, it's interesting that this is just ignored when it comes to the discussion of Spending. Had we won in 09 and 13 (and maybe 10 and 15), we're literally...
still doesn't take away from the fact that wins in 09 & 13 (and maybe 10 and 15) would've been HUGE for our program. I know that's not as sexy as a conspiracy theory but no amount of $$ should've prevented a victory in 2013 or 2009. The '09 team was more talented than the mutt squad, which was...
I've heard stuff like the ACC scheduling didn't like PJ (never got a reason 'why') thus all the scheduling favorability to Duke and others, and that the refs hated him too, thus all the bad calls (again, never a reason 'why'). I've even heard some of our fans claim that the recent...
I disagree. We had increases in both 2010 and 2015, both of which were momentum-killing seasons.
PJ going 6 of 11 vs mutts would've had a greater effect on his tenure here than any AD hire would have.
