Ok, so it's a bit more complicated than I realized. You have to be enrolled for 12 hours but earn only 6. Reminds me of my time at GT, lol. Since you also have to earn a minimum of 24 hours per year, to be eligible to play the next year, it means you still have to earn 120 hours over 5 years...

Agree, but this is very challenging to do with the extra Covid year. You need only 120 semester hours to meet a bachelor's degree requirement. You also must take at least 12 hours per semester to stay eligible. That equates to only 10 semesters of school (5 years with no summer classes) to...

Thanks for the link. Seems like the rule for winning it all still holds - you need to be above 50%. UM is at 54%. UW is well below that. Although the 50% rule is a bit arbitrary and isn't supported by any rigorous bottoms-up analysis, it's interesting that it has held for 12 years running...

I suspect we're still being affected by the extra year (2020) of eligibility. Eventually, that will work itself out.

I think what's happening now is that the NCAA, after having fun afoul of antitrust law, is reluctant to enforce any rule that prevents a player from making money. This is why they proposed a new division.

The CFP is a growth business. So far the progression has been 2-4-12-? Wouldn’t be surprised to eventually see 32 teams, arranged like the NCAA’s with a North and South 1v16 seed, etc. May not make for the best games, but ESPN doesn’t care as long as they get enough additional eyeballs to sell ads.
