It must be a bad habit to break as after that open scrimmage in fall practice that they had for season ticket holders my brother and I watched Sims practicing doing rolls to the ground holding the ball. He was being told to put in extra practice on how he carried the ball and how he falls with...
John nails it.
I didn't like seeing Vad's pic all over the MSM yesterday as poster child for anything other than as the winning QB for GT. I also don't like players deciding to do things like that without permission. If it is really a good cause, and really about supporting IJ then do you...
I think both Vad and Justin wanted a legit chance to be a DIV 1 QB and CPJ offered that. The longterm questions are two-fold:
1) If Vad and Justin have a load of success here does it make more dual threat kids easier to recruit to Tech?
2) Or the flipside. With the sexiness of the option...
Heeled soul, just curious but what's your connection with Tech?
That is, I get the impression that you are first and foremost a UNC fan (duh!) but are also a fan of Tech either partly or seriously, as in "as long as they don't play UNC" you root for them.
Just curious. I have no problem with...
Tech showed that they were practicing the diamond formation in the spring and open scrimmages. It was already not a secret at all so the UNC coaches certainly should have been aware of it. Actually having run it in the Duke game gives real game experience and film on it for Tech's benefit as well.
Tech hasn't been fantastic at dealing with being another teams big "revenge" game in the last few years. Motivation and emotion means so much for the performance of college-aged players. Hence my concern is solely with Tech and that they are determined to not underestimate how much UNC wants...
I found out that the starting 5 on the OL played the whole way through at Duke until the 2nd team was brought on en masse. That makes me feel better about Bailey not yet being back. The starters had a whole game to gel and communicate with each other and no one is injured from that group so it...
I expressed this view in a thread that went nowhere but I am enjoying the extent to which the offensive system we run is flexible enough to adapt to the strengths and abilities of the talent and can raise some players above themselves.
Any offense allows for high-level talents to be shown off...
It is only two games in but I am growing to enjoy games that we win where the stats do not show the dominance of any one or two players on the offense but instead you see 5 guys with over 50 yards running, similar with receiving, and 7 different guys scoring touchdowns.
I know how seductive and...
It is nice to see Vad lead a death march.
Personally, I am growing to enjoy games where at the end of the day the stats of any individual player are not so completely overwhelming. I kind of dig having 5 players with over 50 yards rushing and the same or similar with wr's. It seems to me...
John,
Thanks for linking to the interview. I have not been able to find any postgame media interviews from the Duke game, does anyone know where to find the post-game quotes at least? I usually see them as part of the wrap-up links on the Ramblin Wreck site but they never appeared this time.
Good reflections Vamos.
My initial response to you would be while Vad should still be considered green until adversity seasons him some more as a starter I do think he has experienced some of that already. I am thinking how he got to stay in and play most of the UNC game last year because of...
I liked that exchange because it reminded me of just how intensely competitive CPJ is and I have always liked that about him and think it is such a good trait for a head coach. He is what?, closer to twice Gaudin's age than not, isn't in obviously fantastic shape but he would have none of it...
In no particular order, here are the ones I immediately think of:
1) Smelter's 2nd touchdown: came back to the ball, spun and fought his way in. He gets great tough yards after the catch.
2) Jemea Thomas: tackle by shirt, nice. But I especially loved his coming out of nowhere to save a...
Longestday, I have to agree with you. Had a similar thought about effort at the scrimmage I attended. I hope he gets his mind right to go with his physical gifts. In the meantime . . . More Smelter please!
