    Postgame: ND 31-GT 13

@slugboy - I know you've posted some of this stat stuff previously, but a great post regardless. Thanks! I think Buster has done a pretty good job of improving our success rate since he came on board. I also think there can be a bit of a trade-off between maximizing the success rate (just...

Zach Pyron is a tough dude!

There has been a narrative that King hasn’t been effective throwing downfield this season, in terms of either attempts or completions. Let’s assume that this premise is correct. Reasons given: Play-calling philosophy that removes down-field passes from King’s choices. His receivers are covered...

Do you know if this is the same success rate that gameonpaper.com uses? Gameonpaper expresses it as a percentage, and even if you normalize that to a decimal fraction, it doesn't seem to line up properly with the values in the graphic for our game vs. ND.

    Where do we end up

I must be getting used to @iceeater1969's writing because it made sense to me.

Fair point, as much as it pains me to admit.

    Game 9 #GTvsVT Media

That was my takeaway as well. Has me wondering if he made any assignment changes for either the players or the coaches. I suppose we will know more next Saturday.

    QB King out vs Hokies

Kelly asked about Efford's status in CBK's presser today. "Day-to-Day". He's at practice but with a black jersey, which I assume means no contact.

    Where do we end up

Agree. The FSU win raised our expectations. Now we know it was fool’s gold, and we have settled back to realistic outcomes. But starting the season that high and landing where we are now has been a disappointment for many. Swap the FSU and ‘Cuse W/L, and many would have said we are right on track.

Missing on two very makeable field goals will do that. One was from the 22 so technically just outside the red zone, but the point still stands. Overall yardage was surprisingly close given the final score.

This. I was about to reply with the question "What part of faking a field goal attempt and a punt attempt are wildly conservative and low risk?"

Early Line - GT v VPI

I don't see a problem with @Root4GT's statement. nor do I see what last year's uga game has to do with this year's Miami game. Pessimism would be saying that there's no way we can win, whereas root stated what we will need to do to win. Miami's offense this year is a scoring machine, and has...

Early Line - GT v VPI

This quote from another thread applies here. I think we will need to surprise VT to overcome our special teams being so special.

    Onto the TECH-mo Bowl!

I think it's a bit more complex than that. We learned that when Jamal Haynes isn't near 100%, our run game suffers. He got healed up in the bye week and proceeded to go off in the next two games. I think with a healthy Jamal, we probably beat Syracuse and would have stood a better chance of...

    Onto the TECH-mo Bowl!

Assume you meant our defense against their offense for this post. I hope we get Efford back or our defense against the run will not look as good as the stats say it is.

    Postgame: ND 31-GT 13

Key was asked about the no-call on the roughing the kicker in his post-game presser. Obviously, he couldn't say much about the refs without getting fined, and didn't. Intentional grounding should have been called and could have made a difference. That said, intentional grounding is one of...

CBK cited his biggest issues to address as special teams, tackling, and O-line, in that order. I pretty much agree with him.

    GT Athletics Budget

I was a co-op on the quarter system in the 70’s. Like most freshman co-ops at the time, I was paid at or near minimum wage. As an out-of-state student, it was a struggle to make ends meet and I had to get some help from my dad until I was able to obtain Georgia residency after a couple of...

    2024 non-GT games thread

Duke’s defense, with their ability to get pressure and sacks, is an inexperienced quarterback’s nightmare. If anything, the game was a testament to how critical it is for a team to develop its backup QBs. Last night, one was a pick machine, the other had no internal clock telling him he needed...

    Analytics post mortem

Seems that King's ranking is adversely affected by his low "scramble" %. Possibly due to Buster's offense - when King gets flushed from the pocket (rarely), he usually does a good job of finding an open receiver or check-down. Not sure how he is defining the term, but I assume it means a QB...

    Offensive Play-Calling

Ok. Not sure what source you were using but as I mentioned above, FEI currently has our PPD at 22nd, consistent with our overall offensive ranking.
