    King Injury Factual Updates

I rewatched the play in question. The same play where he left the field favoring his shoulder was the one where 98 hit him with helmet-to-helmet contact. No call. In most games that's a personal foul. Edit to add: 98 hit Haynes on his helmet with the crown of his helmet. Could have been a...

    Fake defensive injuries

Huh? So in your analogy, a violation of the tax code which can result in punishment is the same as faking an injury, which doesn't, so they are equivalent? I can not understand your logic here.

IIRC, that was a 14-point swing. Goal-line photos showed the ball clearly over the goal line; forward progress should not have even been part of the debate.

What play was this? It wasn't the one immediately after the one where his shoulder was drooping, since that play was third down and then we punted. Unless I'm misunderstanding the play you are referring to.

    Fake defensive injuries

One is against the rules/law, one isn't. Not sure how I could spell it out any clearer to you. Yet you think the only difference is punishment.

Wrong thread? We've got one started for the ND game. Yeti's post certainly has that "glass half empty" vibe.

That is, in fact, against the law, and if caught, punishable with fines or even jail time. No analogy with "faking" injuries.

Let's see...ND has an elite pass defense and an average run defense. We have an excellent run game. What kind of balance should we have?

With a healthy King and unbiased refs, we win the game by 3 scores. Just sayin'. A little premature, perhaps? I mean, Key has been our permanent head coach for only 1 1/2 seasons. His win trajectory is upward and his recruiting is as well. You may be correct, but I'd give the guy a chance...

Their schedule has indeed been relatively easy, as it often is. But it also continues to be fairly easy through the rest of the season. They have three very winnable games remaining - FSU, NCSt, and Wake. Duke has shown that it has a weak offense coupled with a good defense which can keep...

Yeah, it was bad. Perhaps my perspective is also biased, but he was absolutely fawning over "Hall of fame" Mack Brown on top of defending Collins. The announcers also were quick to point out where we should have been called for penalties without ever mentioning the many times UNC should have...

Agree. And I would be shocked if we did that. Huh? Pyron came in with only 11 minutes left in the game. Could he have come in sooner? Sure, but HK was responsible for two scoring drives in the second half. Many factors go into play-calling – including but not limited to defensive alignments...

    Early Line GT-ND

Looking at Game on Paper it appears that our Strengths and Weaknesses match up pretty well against theirs. ND has an elite passing defense, so we Run The Bawl instead. Their run defense is ok but not elite, which plays into our tendency for game and possession control. Our weakness on defense...

    UNC 2024 Post Game

Shanahan came in with no experience in American football and also had the disadvantage of an extremely poorly coached special teams unit. Given the constantly blocked kicks and hits he took, I imagine his first couple of years here caused him some unexpected trauma. Once Key fixed that, he...

PFF Grades With all the talk about King's injury, we seem to have overlooked Goede's injury early on. He had been doing a good job (highest graded PFF) but at least Harpring came in and performed well.

Yeah, the line drive didn't allow our coverage to get in position. Huzzie might still have scored, but the punt certainly didn't help.

I didn't notice that, but I watched him drop a snap that hit him in the hands and barely get the kick off. He was lucky that it took a GT bounce. Perhaps he should start wearing receiver gloves. Our special teams had a bad day overall. Punt and kick coverage needs work. Key mentioned this...
