The starting position will be open in the spring. JT is the likely starting QB. But I still don't understand why we start a thread that says the JT Era has started. Premature imo.
Re-read my post Drew. I agree. We shouldn't have passed more.
He was recruited for the wrong reasons and mislead imho. He would have been better off playing WR here or going to another school to begin with.
Most telling part of Ken Seguira's article:
The very curious thing is that Lee had eight runs of 20 yards or more last season on 96 carries as a backup to Tevin Washington but only one this season on 182 carries.
You know why Ken?
Because in 2012 Vad came in a ran mostly out of the Pistol...
Here is why, John.
He is in the wrong offense. I am sure you have heard that on here.
Think about it like this... Do you think Peyton Manning would be more effective throwing from a pass oriented offense or a run heavy scheme - flexbone?
We shouldn't have passed more. You are correct...
I feel like it would help our pass pro to be in a shotgun or pistol. After the snap, the QB is already in a spot to step and throw quicker from being 5 yards behind center. Thus negating the 3 and 5 step drops that take 1 to 2 seconds for the QB to execute before he can even consider a pass.
Not saying you are wrong but I cannot recall seeing Vad run more than 1 or 2 mesh reads out of the pistol in a single game since Duke. When we did run it more extensively against Duke it looked like he was more comfortable.
I agree. And let me piggy back off this if I may. I feel our offense is effective and efficient when it is executed correctly. Making your blocks, correct reads by the QB, no false starts, etc... equal good execution. I think the offense did not execute as well this year as it has in prior...
