  1. AB Blocking

CPJ singled out Jarrett to be redshirted in an interview during Camp but no recollection of a redshirt for T Marshall.
  2. Redshirts Burned to this point

I agree. IMO The only position where I could see a need to use an additional freshman is DT, but the way Stargel was used last night a lot at DT indicates to me he is now the insurance to keep the redshirts on Henderson and Glanton. Also, like Devine, Kallon was in the game for a lot of plays...
  3. Offensive Line Play (one game in)

My take from game observation: First team OL looked like the OB. First subs were Klock and Bryan with no noticeable dropoff against this competition. Next subs included A Marshall and Fromayan. I did not see much dropoff and that came with a QB change as well. DEVINE WAS IN THERE UNTIL 3 MINUTES...
  4. Redshirts Burned to this point

CPJ did say that some of the freshmen and backups were "brain dead for the first 5 minutes after they went into the game". If the shoe fits...
  5. Redshirts Burned to this point

Whitehead was on defense off and on in the second half. He and Jackson combined on a tackle with about 1:27 remaining. On one rollout pass I saw him in hot pursuit from the backside but no chance to make a play. Not sure of the number of plays.
  6. Nicknames

You quoted the second time he said Marcus squared. In an earlier interview I think it was clear he was talking about both Allen and Marshall when he said Marcus squared. He got a laugh when he said it so he used it again in another interview that you quoted.
  7. Nicknames

He was talking about both because he followed that statement up by saying " if you call Marcus you know one will show up". I think he just temporarily could not roll the last names off his tongue so he said Marcus squared.
  8. Way too early analysis - GT v. Alcorn

Agree with the comments on the O. I was a little disappointed with some of the D play. Still too much soft coverage. Best real pass rush still came from PJ on the blitz. The Alcorn QB choked on several short throws that were easy throws to open receivers, and his receivers dropped some key...
  9. AB Blocking

I did not see all the blocks and have not had a chance to study any game film but from stadium observation I saw 4 really good AB blocks on outside runs, two by Willis, one by T Marshall, and one by Lynch. Those blocks were feet up take downs. I am sure there were more. Only completely non block...
  10. Substitution Takaways

    special teams - yes
  11. Way too early analysis - GT v. Alcorn

That was a great effort block by Summers (even my wife noticed it) and Lynch made a good move himself to turn a 5 yarder into the 10.
  12. Uni Thread!

Uniforms in this game looked too much alike (both in gold pants and goldish helmets). We needed to be in all white just to have the needed contrast. I am sure from the field the players could tell a difference but from the stands it was not enough contrast when players started moving.
  13. Way too early analysis - GT v. Alcorn

The Alcorn QB, unfortunately for him, had a terrible night throwing. He misfired on many short dump passes to open receivers. A better performance from him would have made this a much closer game. His receivers did not help him much as there were several drops from the Braves receivers. Even...
  14. Substitution Takaways

Overall I was impressed with both the offense and defense substitutions, both who and when, and especially the freshmen . (1) Sewak left Devine in on every O play until about 3 minutes before halftime, well after the other starting O linemen had given way to subs. I sure this was testing his...
  15. Greatest Gameday Memories at Grant Field / Bobby Dodd Stadium

GT vs Navy and Brent Cunningham was having a record day. 33 degrees with the wind howling and heavy sleeting. We are in the upper East Stands and when we returned after a halftime thawout there were only a half dozen other idiots left in the upper East Stands. A great day spent with my brother...
  16. Marcus Marshall

Agree. Martensen was set up as #3 (when Jordan moved to AB) and when Martensen recently got hurt Swilling went back to #3. Martensen is a solid #3 and I agree that we do not need a good schlorship athlete sitting for emergency duty when we have serviceable players like Martensen (and Swilling)...
  17. Marcus Marshall

Next year Allen, M Marshall, Weimerskirch, Braswell, and Swilling come back and we add Leggett and Mills (Mills likely will RS). Seems like a crowd but there is a similar crowd at AB in 2016....good problem for the program (and better Scout Team) but not enough PT for all the good players. I...
  18. Marcus Marshall

Agree if Jordan is in an AB slot to get on the field some; however, if he blossoms into an AB star I can see him staying at AB and Martensen and Campbell being the backups....especially if Campbell is looking like the future. Martensen is a solid #3 backup.
  19. Marcus Marshall

And in the long run the BB gets triple or so more times the carries than an AB. We have 10+ ABs for 2016 and 2017 already.
