My opinion? Zero. Every game, he said ..."We will do a top to bottom review on Monday and take appropriate action." But he never did.
Collins review:
Offense? Not so hot. Check.
Defense? Terrible. Check.
Special teams? Whatever. Check.
Top to Bottom Review complete.
This is just my opinion, but with all the expected coaching changes about to happen, there are going to be a ton of coordinators looking for jobs. if the deal is that we have to hire P5 guys, I think we will do fine.
I think that was the decision put to TStan. He thought firing CGC would doom the class, so he opted to keep him and force other changes. But 2022 is now on him. He vouched so he owns it.
I think another poster addressed this. Collins apparently has a pretty good class coming in. Firing him NOW kills that. Best to salvage as much as you can.
It’s the same reason Tennessee is a mess (the Haslam). And Auburn. Those are very frustrating jobs because you are only an administration. The real decisions are made by others.
Here's the scoop:
Meetings tomorrow. TStan and the money. TStan and Collins. Collins and the team.
Thacker, Burton and more (Patenude) are gone. Key might resign.
TStan is hitched to Collins. If Collins is canned next year, TSTAN goes with him.
The internal thinking is to upgrade the...
Be careful with Mason. He’s seen here as a weak DC and one of the reasons Auburn has collapsed in the last 4 games. Tonight was a good game for him though.
I think what TStan is saying is, “Geoff, someone with your qualifications would have no trouble finding a top-flight job in either the food service or housekeeping industries.”
They don't give them away. They sell them. And make enough $$$ to pay for the rest of the season.
Personally, I hated the practice. Better to just donate them to the military. But UGAg has the worst fans in the country. Except maybe Florida. But it's close.
In a week, UGAG is playing Alabama for the SEC Championship. No way Kirby tries anything stupid against Tech. There is zero up side. Run the score up to 35-0 by the half and then, put in the scrubs. Easy game.
I was reading about Miami hiring Kiffin. The Athletic Department announced a $20M increase in funding. But "announcing" and "having" are two different things. (And Kiffin isn't going to Miami.)
