This is the difference. When Alabama fired Mike Shula and hired Saban, swag sales surged so much, Alabama recouped the $10M without having to pressure donors too much. We don't have that luxury.

    Game 12 #UGAvsGT Media

Every OC has to convert their offense to the Alabama terminology and game theory. No exceptions.

If you really want to rub Collins' nose in it, hire CPJ as a consultant to evaluate the football program.

I'll add to that, especially due to the pressure to change coordinators. Geoff won't hire anyone what doesn't want to keep the charade going. He'll prefer less accomplished individuals because he won't want anyone that might upstage him, challenge him or see through him. If there is an OC/DC out...

We won't. Tech is not an attractive job. We pay ok (not great), but have few resources, a small base and a difficult curriculum. It's not even a stepping stone job anymore. The worst part is we do not have a professional AA operation ... it's still a handful of people calling the shots and...

There was an interesting show this weekend featuring Notre Dame. The take was that Notre Dame had wanted to join a conference, but no one wanted them. So, they made a decision to barnstorm ... taking the train and playing Army, USC and all of the other leading teams at the time. This built Notre...

Much as I hate to admit it, Collins is here for a while. The normal process is for a university is to raise prices $5 and pay the buyout. At Tennessee, that instantly nets $4 million a year. Throw on the revolver and you can swing a $12-15M buyout without breaking a sweat. Tech can't. With...

Great question. I attended quite a few SEC games and they are all put together well. I hear Auburn practicing theirs quite a bit. I think a service produces them because the sound and organization is quite similar. Ours feels like it’s trying to entertain 5 year olds before the fair.

Geoff will never do it. He will ask, "Why should I listen to you? I'm an expert on building elite organizations. Next!"

Maybe. We all pick up traits from those we have worked for.

Collins never coached for Saban. He was in Player Development. I doubt he attended a single meeting with Saban.

Per Bruce Feldman, Mullen had the reputation of running an undisciplined program. And Collins used to work for Mullen.

I don't think so. In my 50 years of association with the Institute, I have rarely seen accountability, especially when it comes to athletics. Cabrera won't want to fire Stansbury because that means he has to own it. No, he'll avoid it as well.

Homer had been a successful coach on his own. TStan was a tutor. I don't see TStan as having the backbone to make a tough decision. I think he will do his best to ride out the contract and hope for the best. (Just look at the GTAA Strategic Plan. Almost no mention of football. Why? He doesn't...

Meh. I think CPJ would have fared far better with a) a P5 defense, b) real strength and conditioning, and c) hiring coordinators and not friends. You can make anything work if you commit. We never did. Instead, we had a system that was in the mind of one, very brilliant coach which went...

I watched the Butch Jones debacle at Tennessee up close a few years ago. Even at the end, he had Peyton Manning and others voicing their confidence. It was only after ex players came out describing what really went on that the tide turned and forced him out. I think we will see the same thing...

I think you are oversimplifying the issue. To be clear, the GTAA wanted CPJ gone after the 2013. To say he had a strained relation with the AD at the time is an understatement. However, ANY coach that consistently win 7 games at a Top 50 STEM school is worthy of respect.

Musing over coffee today ...I realized that almost 40 years ago to the day, a Number One Notre Dame team came to Grant Field as UGA was fighting for the top spot in college football. A Bill Curry GT team tied them in the second greatest Tech football game I've ever seen. (Only the 1981 Bama...
