  1. Glenw; I wish:

MAYBE. Note that the BB team is only graduating 50% of their players, worst of all GT student athletes. CPJ is doing much much better.
  2. No Slant Route - WHY?

The one change I would suggest for improving our passing game does not affect our O scheme, formations, or practice time. Just throw the ball sooner!
  3. I missed this? Hunt status?

I suspect if its a few play emergency we will see Stargel rather than burn a RS. Stargel played some DT early in the year and he is ahead of the walk-ons. Another long term injury likely to burn a RS.
  4. UVA First Play

@Longestday please look at the first offensive play by GT. The playside AB blocks inside on what turns out to be a TO pitch. Nobody blocks the CB. The AB thinks it is a midline? The OT goes after the MLB as a TO? Can you tell what is going on?

My VT ticket to give away is still available.
  7. Opponents Defensive Scheme

I see these big O changes from 2014: No real or consistent BB threat, WRs and ABs not getting open and not winning contested balls, pass protection breaking down horribly, and perimeter blocking not there yet (but getting better). Throw in the injuries and ragged desperation play at QB and CPJs...
  8. starting OL for Sat

I would be most happy if Brown has developed to take that role. Nothing to date on this forum has indicated where his development has progressed. However, I would not be surprised as Lynch's development at AB was also totally unreported last season and that turned into a pleasant surprise.
  9. Regarding our young guys...

Yes. MLD is a good runner, very good receiver, and once he learns the finer points of blocking and blocking timing he should measure up well to a 2014 Perkins.
  10. Injury Report

I doubt Martensen sees the field except in a rare blowout but he is a very serviceable backup who can run clock and execute the TO. He is definitely a good third string backup who looked good in Fall practice and the Spring Game with the first team.
  11. starting OL for Sat

If Joe is not 100% or not effective we have the option of Burden at RG and Marshall at C so IMO we will be OK.
  12. starting OL for Sat

I believe it was in the Monday or other presser that CPJ said Joe could play G or T and that Klock was moving back to T. Sounded strange at the time to report that but if he knew about Devine it makes perfect sense. The "cheese" lineup makes sense with Klock backing up the tackles and Brown the...
  13. Sugiura Says Bowl Game in 2015/16 "Not Going To Happen"

But after we get the Bowl split from the other ACC teams in Bowl games don't we then come out ahead?
  14. Just having a little fun, what the depth chart could look like in 2017

Add Sellers at DL, a RSO and Lewis will be a SR.
  15. 4th and Stewart

Some of MLD's blocks are OK, some not. But many block attempts are miss-timed, too soon. When he gets to the defender too soon the defender can put all his focus on defeating the block, and even if blocked he has time to recover and get back in on the play. If the timing is better the block is...
  16. baffling Oline still struggling

    Yeah, some of that too.
  17. baffling Oline still struggling

On a previous show or CPJ discussion Coach indicated that maybe the 2014 OL was not as good as we thought and the experienced supporting cast made a big difference. My personal opinion is that many teams (VT, UGA, Miss St) backed their DL off and played more react whereas this year I think we...
  18. GT vs UVA Depth Chart

    Actually 2 freshmen Marshalls
  19. Defensive Consistency

My opinion: Things that really helped in the second half on D: FSU only had the ball less than 3 minutes in the third Q so the D was quite fresh in the fourth Q. Several FSU false starts in the fourth Q also greatly helped the D. What we did not do well on D was to cover Cook on passing...
