No doubt. Not a lack of effort, IMO.

Some of MLD's blocks are OK, some not. But many block attempts are miss-timed, too soon. When he gets to the defender too soon the defender can put all his focus on defeating the block, and even if blocked he has time to recover and get back in on the play. If the timing is better the block is easier as the defender must close and focus on the runner, making the block much easier and not leaving time for the defender to recover and get back into the play. A little faster ABs and better AB position might also be an area for improvement to assist the block.

Agree completely, timing and spacing are such critical components to our offensive execution. Just being off a little has disastrous effects.

Let's remember MLD was at BB and was recently moved to AB. Different blocking angles from BB to AB. Guys get better at blocking the more you do it. The willingness is there...once he gets it down, he's going to probably our best all around AB.

Have to ditto the ditto of the ditto , of timing of blocks and runners is nowhere close to end of last year. Some is caused by defense being in better position. I see ab run psst pulling guard, ab run right into back of other ab stoning safety, ab running a round end while blocking is under .
When I looked at hs tape of cotrell , they showed him blocking on three plays. He would wait and then explode into the defender so runner could accelerate off his block. Ditto when running he kept it in low gesr to set up defender for blocker , the shot by with no juking.

Seems like a 3d replay would be a great training aid. Do we pair sets of ab and wide receivers , hell they probably do that now. You coach types === What can we do? If we get an ab to corner, we got to get yards! Waiting till they are seniors is not a plan.
