There will be changes to the op's list based on Fall Camp. I am suggesting that Mills, Glanton, and the Morgans will stay on the 2 depth list through August.
You can add Dotson or Walker and maybe Curry to the RS list.
Mills is very likely, especially with Leggett gone. No other true freshmen candidates by end of August but Braun is a possibility later in the season, depending on C Griffin IMO.
There are some RS freshmen who could emerge in the two deep: Glanton, Cottrell, Philpott, and the Morgans.
I'll take a good football player over a good athlete any day (unless the good athlete is also a good football player). First priority is to be a good football player (PJ Davis). We have a few excellent athletes buried deep on our depth chart and they may or may not ever become great football...
1. JT- top playmaker and team leader
2. Burden-if we lose him we suffer double, at center and Marshall cannot help us in other places
3.PJ Davis- we need his relentless effort and the resulting tackles and the senior leadership
4.Devine or Bryan- no experienced backups and the backup performance...
Agree with a lot of this.
OL: The Morgans and a Marshall should be good depth for our G-C-G. Among Griffin, Fromayan, and Stickler we need two to step up at OT. I'm not sure where Ivenmeyer fits in but he seems to have had a good Spring Game. If Burden stays healthy Marshall could help outside...
I do not know about his injury recovery, but as I recall he had medical academic interests and his transfer could be related to academic pursuits as well as football depth chart issues. I was always concerned about his staying 5 years (after his injury) at Tech as long as he still wanted to...
No argument. Its really not possible to narrow down a list of 5 when there were so many stars over the last 70 years, especially when you consider how much the game has changed and how much better and bigger the athletes are today.
Defense requires you to be mobile, strong, able to take a lick, and have the "want to" for physical contact over and over. Some players who do not meet that criteria can find a home on offense but they cannot hide you on defense. From one who was undersized (and under strength) who played both...
There were No 1s on the Gold OL. One RS So Scholly T with virtually no game and one spring game experience. One walkon Sr C with 3 spring game experience. Two RS Fr Scholly Gs with no game or spring game experience, and one RS Fr walkon T with zero experience. I was surprised actually at how...
Play calling seemed strange. We never attempted to establish the BB dive and there were a lot of overshifted AB slots in motion followed by QB runs. If the triple existed there were very few pitches outside. When we did pitch there were some plays. Either the play calling, or the defense, or the...
My opinion:
Depth is a real problem for both OLs but the Gold O is at a big disadvantage with only Munns (mostly Spring experience) and Stickler (mostly Spring experience) in the OL with the two Morgans (no experience) and a walkon (no experience). I cannot see the Gold O moving the ball at all...
At the time JT and TB were healthy and CPJ said that Jordan would not get any playing time as #3 QB. He wanted to get him some PT somewhere so he temporarily moved him to AB. Injuries all over the place forced changes.
