Is the next Duke Johnson or Geovani Bendard....

Great observation. I agree totally. Pretty much from the beginning this season, JT respected possession of the FB much more than 2013. He didn't try to force everything into a huge play. The next major step in his development, as you stated very well, was his willingness to get on the ground or...

ESPN: Too-early Atlantic and Coastal Division winners

I don't worry about schedules. I really don't. The way I see it, eventually, you are going to have to beat the best anyway if you want to be a champion. We are a good team now. We should be a good team next fall. Let's just play the games and see where we stand.

How do we get better at 3rd and long?

When you think about it, our offense is built BETTER than most for 3rd and long, when defined as between 7 and 9 yards like that. Think about it. Our RBs have some obscene per carry averages. I'll bet half of our runs go for 7 yards or more. This makes the threat of the run a reality in this...

Is the next Duke Johnson or Geovani Bendard....

Good question. The good news is, it is a lot easier to "burst on the scene" as a RB than it is at a lot of positions. Our offense might be a little more difficult in this regard, but it is still generally true.

    Francis Kallon

Don't ever quit on a kid who is working. He has a lot of athletic ability and size. Who knows. We will see. It could go either way. I just want him to keep working.

    DJ White. (Ecstasy and Agony)

Thanks for saying this. I was going to respond with essentialliy the same comment but thought I would read the rest of the thread first. Coverage was not DJ's problem in the Climpsum game last year. He was there. He just needed to play the ball a little better when it arrived, and maybe get a...

    Tech-UGA reaction video

When that game went to overtime, I felt extremely confident. We had basically plowed the field with their defense for 30 minutes and they were DONE. Then, we missed the extra point. I went into utter dismay. Had we made the extra point, I would still have been extremely confident because, if...

    Oregon and Time to Prepare

I shudder to think of what would have happened to our defense this year if we had a hurry up offense. Can you imagine? With our depth issues up front? Our D improved a lot over the season, but lets face it. Our defense was coddled by our offensive efficiency this year. I am not in the least bit...

    USA Today early top 25

Yeah. I see your point. I just hate the system that relies on such drivel. The outcomes of this year's bowl season combined with the truck-sized load of hype we had to endure all year will hopefully change some of that nonsense.

    Final Points Per Drive Stats

All those good SEC defenses......... I guess we all know now, that was because of the plethora of pedestrian SEC offenses combined with weak OOC opponents and not some physical superiority over the rest of the nation.

    USA Today early top 25

I am still utterly amazed that preseason polls get any traction or discussion at all. Who cares? If you were thinking about possibly caring, just look at 2014 preseason polls and then look at the last. Just win the games. Nobody really knows what teams have until helmets start cracking.

    Oregon and Time to Prepare

More than anything, I think the lesson learned from last night's game is the value of a dominant run game. OSU pounded the football, controlled the clock, and kept ORE off the field more than they were used to. It was easy to see that the Duck's defense was DONE by the middle of Q3. ORE got 3...

    Final 2014 AP Poll

As much as I hate UGAg, I still think they need to be where they are or, at most, a spot or two lower. They underachieved a bit (as usual) but were still a very good team who could beat anybody on the list. I guess my question would be, who would you put in front of them?

    Offensive Styles

Don't get me wrong. There are some explosive Shotgun / Read Option offenses out there that score a lot. My most basic point was that I have seen many of these teams struggle when they "have to get" 2 yards, whether in goal to go or 4th down scenarios. It seems I saw a lot of plays blow up in the...

    GA Tech National Champs

Oh Boy. How 'bout we win it the conventional way next season? I wonder how many teams can claim the transitive property natty? Probably anybody with a single win in FBS in 2014.

    Offensive Styles

I got to thinking after reading a comment in another thread. Is anybody else besides me exceedingly pleased that we run our offense from under center? Believe it or not, I have watched at least a portion of every single bowl game this year and probably 70% or so of the total snaps. So many of...

Projecting College Football's Final Top 25

I hadn't really thought about it. You go to war with the crew you have, not the one you wish you had. Smelter makes us better, without a doubt. Would it have been enough? Who knows.

Redshirts from 2014 - Biggest Impact in 2015?

I'm glad the staff feels that way about Quaide. He is a pretty tough guy who can jump cut a little and stay behind his pads. The more the better. Competition is a great thing. I liked Quaide's film, but if you look at what was going on at the line of scrimmage, it is hard to draw too many...

    Hello, ACC

There is a lot of parity out there. I don't feel significantly better or worse than the other conferences in the game. That may upset some of you, but at least I am not delusional like the SEC. The ACC is a good conference, to be sure, but there are some good teams all over the place.
