    CPJ's learning curve at GT

This is a really good thread, although I challenge some of the notions published therein. The narrative that I am talking about goes like this: GT is a different place. CPJ didn't know what he was getting into. He has made adjustments to recruiting and the Hill etc. He now has it figured out. We...

Cannot believe how bad this offense looked in 2009

There are several things. For one he is a bigger and taller kid. He will be a more physical runner. Campbell is agile, but he is not as inclined to be a jitter bug and whirling dervish in traffic, freezing everybody like JT does and can. Christian is more of a one cut slasher with a great burst...

NFL: Evaluating great receivers with bad QBs

I would be surprised if he was under 4.5. Doesn't matter though. NOBODY could cover him without help, not a single guy. That doesn't happen by accident. DeAndre will score very high on all NFL metrics except field stretching speed. I would go so far as to say that their wouldn't be a single team...

Cannot believe how bad this offense looked in 2009

I agree with Alaguy in the sense that it isn't "obvious" that Christian would be a peer of Justin. JT is pretty special, so making it "obvious" sets the bar pretty high. However, you don't have to look too long at Campbell's vids to see he is wildly athletic. To be sure, he will be a different...

    Smelter Highlight Vid

Nobody has shown yet that they can cover him one on one, not a single CB on the schedule, and we have gone up against some good ones. One thing I love about our offense is the guarantee that we'll have single coverage on our WRs in the passing game.

5 yr sr's vs true frosh

Man, I really like having seniors as opposed to freshmen. We need to RS as much as possible, but we also need to win today. It is a balance. In my mind, a frosh has to show that he can IMPROVE the team to be playing. Otherwise, give him a shirt. Guys like Megatron are obvious. Most cases aren't...

5 yr sr's vs true frosh

I think you are right on about the pitch relationship early on. I just don't think it is because guys are slow necessarily. Timing is hugely important and just understanding how fast your starting QB can get to the edge. He isn't like the guys running with the 2s and 3s.

Cannot believe how bad this offense looked in 2009

I agr I agree. Yes, you can say stuff like that and still be a fan of the former players. I love Nesbitt and company too and will always respect what they did for us, but I am under no illusions believing that was our pinnacle. We were a program in transition back then. We had talented kids...

How long you keep last year's games?

I have all the big 4 games and the ACCCG plus OB. As a matter of fact, I just watched the OB again today. What a dominating performance. Impressive in so many ways. Think I'll watch UGA again in a couple days.

    Byerly to Bback

Well, I wasn't comparing resumes, obviously. That wouldn't be wise. I just think TB is better. Is it a guess? Well, it is impossible to compare them head to head. I will say this, however, without reservation: if I had to choose between JN and TB to QB the 2015 Jackets, I would take TB. That is...

    Byerly to Bback

Ask yourself this question. If JT were to go out for 5 weeks with a high ankle sprain (I hate even bringing it up), who would you want under center early in 2015? Byerly or Jordan? For me there is very little question to it. The obvious answer is Byerly. He has proven he can run the offense with...

    Byerly to Bback

I am not a big believer in this TB to BB talk. First of all, we would be crazy to move him before it is clearly established that MJ has beaten him out for #2 QB. TB can play BB, but he won't be the player that the rest of the guys in the pipeline are. My guess is that he will find himself in the...

    CPJ Press Conference

Did you watch that Campbell (QB) kids vids? If QB doesn't work out, he'll be out there. Man, what an athlete.

Searcy is one guy I will be keeping my eye on. I am not sure where we will use him, but I have this gut feeling he will be special. Admittedly, the sample size of direct observation I have for him is really small. However, really good athletes kind of stand out in a crowd. He stood out to me...

ESPN: Position that needs improvement: Georgia Tech

I I think a point to keep in mind is that, with the exception of Shaq, Nealy, Smelter, Johnson, and Laskey, none of those guys mentioned had made a large impact before 2014, yet they stepped up just fine. Some might have also argued that, while experienced, Johnson hadn't recovered from the...

    Justin Thomas

By m By my count (just looked up the boxscore stats) we were 5-1 in games that JT finished under 50 yards rushing. In the loss (UNC) we put up a ton of yards and points. So this may not be the elixir that some teams might think. Gotta love the concept of the option!

I am not a doctor and I do not want to speculate in any shape or form about Snoddy's actual injury or condition. However, I will say this, I have seen other athletes come back just fine after a tib-fib. It can happen and does happen. In fact, those are far more preferrable to ankle breaks and...

ESPN Calls Jackets "ACC Favorite to make Playoff" in 2015

That is the good side of having a tough schedule. Win your games and you get a chance to playoff. If you are destined to play for a championship then no schedule is going to get in your way.

I wonder what "getting on the field" means nowadays.

ACC Schedule to be released 1/29

I am not worried about it. Maybe I should be, but I really don't care. It is what it is and we will go play.
