I like these three(freeman , whitehead and Simmons )better than any group that I can remember in a long time. I was convinced if Simmons had arrived in Jan. and Freeman in August their roles might have been reversed. Before Freeman's coming out party, would you rather have had Whitehead...
I loved Days. My love for him was about a kid that stayed at Tech for 5 years and was a great teammate all 5 years even when things were not working out on the field. It was so special to see the clouds clear and have such a wonderful ending to his time at Tech. On the other hand, I think a lot...
Redshirt senior leadership and tons of carries equals what I liked about both of them. Being a better athlete does not guarantee his production will equal the two out going seniors. I loved both players. I was just responding to why I love this addition and that it could turn out really good...
He ran 4.57 in H.S. Which is Laskey/Days speed in H.S. But at 241 lbs. I loved both of them for several reasons that had nothing to do with talent . I maybe the only one that thinks our success last year was more O line and fear of God that Jt would keep the ball than our BBacks athletic...
Agree about looking forward to see ing Simmons and whitehead and what they will become on the edge. I am looking through my golden glasses and remind myself we didn't have a proven QB last year and I think things worked out ok. So if these two and JHDs turns into the real deal--------------...
I look at it as we will be better that our defense over the second half of the season. A good bit better. I wonder what Pitts defense would have looked like without Donaldson two years ago? Days is a very gifted athlete who has found his position. Whitehead will be a great addition along with...
I think 5'7" and 165 was a solid player back then. 240 linemen were not common in those days. Our roster in 69 or 70 only listed two players over 200 with Perdoni the only starter at 235. 5 years earlier Bama won a national championship with the O line averaging 190.
I am looking forward to seeing a lot of things this spring. The two best battles could be Devine and Brown along with the weak side DE where we will have an unbelievable 3 deep with Freeman, Simmons and Whitehead. All three will be better than this past years option of starting Freeman as a true...
Just watching two. Not sure if JT is a real div 1 qb. You know I walked by him and he is only about 5'9" . Also, can Devine gain enough weight to actually be able to fend off those big DT's.
I think the point was that he had two years in a pro-style offense and he was .05 faster. It is funny that they give D. Thomas credit for his time with Gailey now, because they sure put him down prior to being drafted coming from a triple option team. We all can twist facts to make our point.
I am not sure I buy the Academic piece of your statement. If you are at GT with a 1050 SAT score in Management or at UGA with a 850 score in P&R which student has the tougher road? They also have around 7 to 10 transfers from juco that will never have to deal with apy. I do buy the idea that...
Agree that the major impact would be on basketball. I have always hated the one and done. I also think with no minor league football and basketball that the words STUDENT and ATHLETE will never go together in the Power 5. GT is a special place and will always come much closer to meeting that...
If we were under old system I think we would have seen FSU and Alabama in championship game. FSU would have been in top 2 as defending champion and remaining undefeated . I think they would have lost to Alabama and we would have to hear about domination again. I like 4 teams but would love 8. It...
