So you say he won it? I think it was the bag man. 1. Kicked out of Florida / JUCO QB 2. JUCO DL too dumb to get into 4 year school (Farley). I like Ted and know we have a jimmy and joe problem. I just can't stand the logic concerning Auburn as they had to out score a lot of teams that year as well.
The perfect storm. Lose two wide receivers that kept the other team honest with catch after catch on 3rd and 8. Lose the best lineman we have had under PJ. The one that gave us all the 3rd and 2s. Throw in losing the average 5 year guys with infectious positive energy. Remind ourselves that last...
What I know about 1969 is that all those rosters were composed of 80 to 90% student athletes. The playing field was much more level at that point in time. I would love to see Bud Carson be successful today. Not likely. I would also love to see what Bobby Dodd would think about today's football...
I agree with you. His problem was the inability to develop a QB. The only lopsided games were against very good QBs that could handle the blitz package and made us look bad.
Aubie won a national championship because of being able to pull from the juco ranks both Newton and Farley. I get tired of watching games and hearing about how great a D coordinator is when I am looking at the three deep and half of the players on the D front came in brainless from a JUCO.
synjyn was one of my all time favorites . It had nothing to do with his football skills and everything to do with the person. #25 is not a starter (22 of them) and I don't remember coaches concerning themselves with how to work someone in to a lineup that hasn't shown they were special...
Here I am again. One of several blind mice who actually thought Paul has done well against Cutcliffe as the issue with him began long before last season. As for my good friend Payton, he says it may just have something to do with the Jimmy and Joes.
What I read that caught my eye was the statement ( apparel companies placing considerable pressure on athletes). Nike and U-A . I have never thought the apparel companies would influence players in the decision about their college choice. I am glad Russell will be hosting camps soon. Haha.
Not going to agree with this one. If you are born in the state of Al, you are a Al fan unless you are a relative of someone who actually attended Auburn or you did. More toothless wonders with multiple elephant flags on the power stroke diesel are found at Walmart.
I am going to laugh some of this off and hit the sack. One sure thing about Tevin. He was a terrible defensive coordinator and allowed his opposition to read his signals half of the time. I think Tevin was fired in mid season.
I remember Dwyer backing up Choice in the home opener his freshman year. Actually went to the game to see the most anticipated freshman class that we would talk about for years. Came away thinking that he and Morgan would be special. So many people talk about track speed and football speed. I...
I will have to wait on that promise, as I think we have 3 freshmen that have run away speed you are reflecting on. Marshall and the two out with knee surgery. I think PJ is on the mark. The kid now is over 210lbs and may find us reflecting in 2020 about his breakaway speed and that he is the...
I like your breakdown and would agree that the speed of our offensive linemen is so important, and they can motor. This is also one of the things that makes us so different. Speed at the OLs is a premium for us but not nearly as important for other team. The only position group that I might...
. Anyone thinking our roster is faster than most of our comp is not looking closely. We have closed the gap somewhat in the last 2 or 3 years but our skill position players are not near the level of FSU, Miami and Clemson. We do have a fast QB but we should be faster than others behind center...
