Agreed. I think we might also see some people join the fray by handing out payments that they otherwise would not have previously as a tax deductible business expense.
Lol 😂 fair. Let’s just see how it plays out. I see NIL helping us relative to Virginia tech, Clemson and a few other ACC competitors. There’s already a huge gap between us and UGA that wasn’t closing under the old system without a massive infusion of unexpected money.
This mindset that we are screwed is mind blowing. Uga, Bama, Ohio st, LSU, and Clemson already pretty much only offer and take four and five star recruits. Just take a look at 247 composite and rivals signings. No, we don’t have a colossal following or alumni base but we are located in the...
All of those guys were drafted as edge rushers/outside linebackers. They technically have not had a true defensive lineman based on positional designation drafted since 2013.
Yes, it is true. Wow, we’ve had more down lineman drafted than UGA since 2013. Good stat @kg01

I was starting to respond that it can’t be right but then it dawned on me that they have had linebackers/edge rushers drafted not sure if any of their true down lineman have been drafted.
The numbers still have room to rise but you are right it’s scary. One thing to note, the percentage giving indicates commitment on the part of the alumni to the program. Donation amounts could theoretically rise with improved records over a couple of years just as they did for Clemson.
Valid points especially Uga v wake forest analogy but I am sure the free market will figure it out like it does in every other industry. This isn’t the end of college sports especially in view of the billion dollar contracts. Allowing compensation without penalty will largely lead to the same...
Yeah the ACC contract really sucks for us because we play UGA every year. The difference in resources becomes magnified when you just view staff salaries and number of analysts.
Exactly online masters is just a cash grab. It’s doesn’t drive fanbase growth. Heck, I know four people earning online masters from GT now. None of them care at all about GT sports.
UGA rivalry is not going anywhere. Unlike Texas, both GT and UGA have to answer to the same Board of Regents, which prefer the two state flagship schools continue their 100+ year rivalry.
You think fan interest has declined now, just wait until 3-4 SEC teams start making it every year in an 8 team system and winning all of the titles. The SEC and B1G have so much more money than the other P5 conferences that it’s inevitable teams from those conferences will hoard the at large spots.
This is why the ACC needs a better tv contract. We just can’t compete with the SEC and Big10. Each team is getting 20-30 million or more than an ACC team.
I am at about 75 games. I was born and raised in Atlanta as a GT fan but I moved away from Atlanta after finishing undergrad at GT in 2010. I only averaged 1-2 games a year during the 2010s after the move.
