  1. Everybody wants to hold the baby. Nobody wants to go through labor.

Oh I was at most of those games...I'm well aware of those facts. The point is to be aware that some trends aren't necessarily new. To address the OP (great post), personally I'm not even a fan of holding the baby. I wait until they are a few years older, aren't spitting up all over themselves...
  2. Smelter Olive Branch

I'll just relay a story from the Georgia Tech radio show, I think it was last year before the Pitt game, when they were interviewing Smelter. They asked him about his big third-down catch (something like a 3rd and 17) to keep the game alive and beat Pitt on homecoming. I'm paraphrasing here...
  3. Everybody wants to hold the baby. Nobody wants to go through labor.

Tech lost to Duke in 2018, 2017, 2015, and 2014, and won by a measly 3 points and other-worldly day by Justin Thomas in 2016, so let's not pretend this is a new development. In fact, Collins has won 2 of 3 versus Duke, although obviously didn't look good doing it this year. I'd pull UCF off...
  4. Will we see BlackStrain the few games?

Considering the position wasn't under Paul Johnson and we're rebuilding it from scratch, that isn't exactly a revelation. Good tight ends that can block and catch are commodities and are in high demand. We're still young at that position as well. Not a football genius here, but outside of Gibbs...
  5. Will we see BlackStrain the few games?

  6. Choice Nominate for Broyles Award

Choice is the one guy on the staff we really need to keep around. Running back room is most definitely *not* an issue. Congrats to Choice.
  7. OK, #BCvsGT Postgame. BC wins 41-30

Positives: I thought Tatum looked good in limited action. Saw several very nice form tackles that we flat out don't see very often. Kaleb Edwards also looked good in limited action. Gibbs returning one to the house was fun. Negatives: We can't be any worse on defense. Almost zero defensive...
  8. OC and DC replacement thoughts!!

If you watch them play Navy, their scheme is more conservative. Granted I think the last two navy v army games were in the cold/snow and not exactly the environment where you want to be throwing and pitching the ball all over the place. Coastal Carolina is a fun offense if you haven't watched...
  9. Coach Dave Patenaude

You mean the coach whose entire staff makes $9.8 million and who went 10-21 in his first 3 years at UCLA? https://www.latimes.com/sports/ucla/story/2021-08-21/ucla-football-coaches-chip-kelly-well-compensated-this-season
  10. 2021 ACC and Competition News

    Virginia handling Duke early.
  11. Ok we are 3-3 so what concerns you the most ( any thing but the coaches)

Can't run the ball up the middle, can't stop the run up the middle.
  12. Officiating Was Terrible

There was a previous unnec roughness call that negated a good play, when Howell was still fighting for yards.
  13. Serious question

Didn't affect Auburn in...2004 when they found a way to keep both Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown active. Pretty sure that team had Brandon Jacobs at one point too.
  14. Keys to stay competitive in game vs Clemson

Unfortunately I don't see us throwing out a brutal winter before Saturday... EDIT: Frozen Hell is a great book and highly recommended to any fans of military strategy.
  15. Thread to actually discuss football

Please do not do what we did against Citadel. If I remember right, defense tried to scheme such that the corners couldn't be blocked (legally). Man up, know your responsibility, get off your block and make the play. Oh yeah, and stop the dive. By "stop the dive" I mean keep it to 2 yards or less.
  16. Game 2 #KSUvsGT Media

Didnt pastner lose to both Georgia state and mercer to start the year? And won the ACC? I'd take a similar turn around... Of course for similar events to happen here Clemson, Miami, UnC, VT, Pitt and probably Virginia would need to be disqualified.
  17. What is Winning?

The goal for this staff should be a consistent presence in the Top 25. That would have us hovering around the 9 win a year mark, and competing for conference championships more often than not.
  18. Gold Koolaid

I'll give you mine. During practice the new kicker from Tennessee (Cimaglia) just missed a 57 yarder. Was 2 feet wide, but had the leg. I remember watching Louisville last year, when their kickers were warming up from the 40, and ours from the 20. That is a massive handicap. I'm also stoked...
  19. Gold Koolaid

They had a really nice selection last year. Slight over-priced but our season tickets are quite reasonable.
  20. A little pick me up

Was listening to 680 the fan for some stupid reason a few days ago, and they were talking about how UGA has owned Florida the past few years. I remember thinking to myself "Wait, didn't Florida BEAT UGA last year? Didn't they go to the SEC championship?". Delusional. National title is theirs...
