I expected to see improved performance from game to game. I have not seen anything indicating improvement.
To say fans should not be frustrated with this coaching staff are looking through gold colored glasses.
Tech is dead last in the ACC in total offense.
Tech is dead last in points...
Personally, I expect collins and his staff to be our best shot at recruiting.
Returning to the original post. After game 5, the most impressive improvement to me is tackling. Top to bottom, I believe this staff has improved tackling skills. More open field tackles (although there have been a...
Another aspect was that the defensive backfield seems confused at times on coverage. UNC had a 4 wide receiver set that seemed to confuse coverage. And there was soft coverage on the backside that UNC exploited. Again, that is just from watching from the stands.
I was at the game and will also be interested in the number of times we blitzed on 3rd/4th down and still got no pressure. Seemed like we brought pressure quite often.
Collins has to be feeling some heat after two miserable losses. We have to go back to the years of he who is not named for a team that has performed so poorly. Unfortunately during preseason and leading up to to the start of the season he hyped the team and the players, heck even the coaches...
UNCheat is down after nearly beating Clem's son. But wins by 14.
Tech is still crippled by an oline that is depleted. Collins is a defensive guy. And Punde has yet to show he has anything to make a difference. And Carolina is better than Citadel and Temple.
Does that mean we can blame California for killing college football? (Insert smiley face here)
This is a slippery slope that in my opinion is not going to end well.
College football is becoming a professional sport.
This legislation furthers the professionalization. Other progressive states will follow and likely will have other incentives. As the article referenced earlier in this thread, this is going to get even more complicated. The NCAA is in a...
Seems another nail in the coffin of what was once call "amateur sports".
The next step is for California to pass a law allowing high school athletes to get paid for their likenesses as well. It's a slippery slope once you start down.
Your post leads me to what is worrying me.
Great recruiters, but can they develop talent. And adjust scheme in game. Or come up with a great game plan after a bye week.
So far that is a big "no".
See the first post in this thread and see is only responsible for 4 out of 22 players.
Maybe he did not recruit all the elite athletes he is bragging about.
Maybe he did just got his "*** beat like a rented mule" by a better coached team
I would like to for Tech to get out of the bottom 25... That would be an improvement.

This is embarrassing.
Thanks for putting that together. Your input is fantastic.
I love your chicken or egg analogy...
But to get back to your premise.
I think it is too easy to lay the fault of the offensive ability to score solely on the OL. The staff knows, or should know, the strengths and weaknesses of the...
I said could and here is how,
USF, Citadel, Temple, UNC (gassed after Clemson), Miami (another dumpster fire), Pitt, VT (even bigger dumpster fire), NC State. That is 8 winnable games for an average football team.
Boaty1, my disagreement is that perhaps Vegas sees the lack of talent on the coaching side of the ball.
Tech has D1 talent on the field. These kids have won games against other D1 schools under Johnson. There is talent on the field. Tech has impressive (elite) team speed at the skill...
