  1. Georgia Southern / Presbyterian College

Still very unhappy about our defense. We are yielding A LOT of runs.
  2. Georgia Southern / Presbyterian College

Not happy. We played very poorly. Pitching was bad, defense was terrible.
  3. GT +9 @ Syracuse Monday

Loved watching them tonight. First time in a while I felt I could say that. only thing I didn’t like was forcing Devoe to take the final shot. Everyone in the building knew it was going to him and we didn’t even get a good screen for him.
  4. Wright State - Opening Weekend

I'd like to see what that Okerholm kid has too.
  5. Wright State - Opening Weekend

ACC Coastal update...5 teams swept their opening series as the division went 20-3 this weekend. (Would have been 18-1 without Pitt's contribution.) Atlantic is 14-4 with 2 games in progress as I type. Only real surprise is Louisville starting 1-2. Elsewhere, nothing really remarkable. Some...
  6. Wright State - Opening Weekend

    (1) Glad we won again to start out 3-0. Wins ALWAYS beats losses. (2) Did not get to watch much of this but caught the end and Simpson's triple. That dude is a significant boos to our offense if he can get on base often enough. (3) I was VERY happy they gave Dawson Brown a chance to close this...
  7. Wright State - Opening Weekend

I was disappointed in Maxwell because he started the game so wild. BUT, I will admit he got things back under control for a stretch after that and dominated, then lost it again late in the 3rd inning. Pitching after that was solid except for one guy.
  8. Wright State - Opening Weekend

I loved *most* of the pitching I saw yesterday. BUT two things I hate: guys who throw balls (not strikes) out of the bullpen; and pulling a guy who had thrown beautifully and gotten two very softly hit outs and something like 9 pitches (8 of which were strikes). Everything else was just fine...
  9. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Yeah, that's where most of us disagree with. you. Getting one recruiting class in that range doesn't prove he could consistently recruit on that range. We simply don't have the financial resources to recruit there consistently.

You're coming across as an absolute hater of CPJ and the triple option. Which is why so may posters are coming back at you. When the TO worked, we looked extremely good (2014). I would happily take that no matter the offense. The TO undeniably gave us an edge in that so few teams ran it...
  11. We need to jump ship

Always has been. Always will be.
  12. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

We agree, but we definitely need SOMETHING unique to give us a chance. Air Raid maybe? I dunno...but the points made by @takethepoints and @Vespidae are spot on. Collins is doing nothing in that regard.
  13. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

It was beautiful when it worked. But the rules changed and we saw that it was getting tougher and tougher to compete with it. I think even CPJ realized its day was done at this level.
  14. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

You're dead wrong as so many TO haters are. Those of us who enjoyed the TO enjoyed it precisely because we recognize the reality that GT does not have the $$$ (or school support from the academic side) to compete in the traditional ways. I don't want the TO back. The rules that gave it an edge...
  15. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

THIS. Exactly this. We must find one place where we can have an edge over our competition because it is folly to think we can compete financially. The TO was that...for a while. Then the factories got the rules changed so they wouldn't be embarrassed like that anymore. We need another TO type...

No. It's not. It's exactly the same as football with one huge exception. It takes fewer exceptional players to rise to power in basketball than in football. But the SEC has definitely targeted the gold mine that is the Big Dance and they are going after it big time.
  17. We need to jump ship

I'm not sure we disagree. Your friend is a pretty good illustration of my point. I painted things as being pretty black and white, but in reality such things are far more often grey, like your friend. But if he got his way, and coaches were paid like faculty, and students got priority over big...
  18. We need to jump ship

Because elite academic types have always hated sports. This conflict goes back decades, is not recent, and has caused former football powers to become has-beens in sports (Sewanee, Tulane, Chicago, etc). A lot of the struggle was over money but at least some of it was over prestige and glory...
