It would cripple all our other sports, imho. While football likely cannot compete in this landscape without a significant change in financial support, basketball and baseball can. But drop down to lower level leagues, and you will end any chance of those sports competing for national titles...

Actually, Tulane was indeed an SEC member. They left the SEC right after GT did (not before). So, for Dodd's coaching career they were an SEC game. Just a bit of trivia for you...doesn't change your overall point (although Dodd usually played 7 SEC games each year).

He lost the assistants who could actually, you know, coach. Hewitt himself was an immensely charming, attractive and well spoken man which is why I suspect he was a great recruiter. But (as Collins is proving as well) you do have to actually coach and not just recruit.

Finally actually watched a GT game. Thought our defense killed us. Lack of a big man, a rim protector, is a huge weakness. This staff blew it on that score. Good coaches but that flaw is big.

Very pleased to see not just a win, but excellent basketball on both ends of the court. We COMPETED out there last night. Props to the team and the coaching staff. Been waiting for something like that all season. I can only hope we continue to play like that the rest of the way.

My only uninformed comment is that I am beginning to wonder about basic coaching strategies on this team. Especially on offense, where we seem to be sticking to something that doesn't fit the athletes we have and their skill sets. i hope I turn out to b e dead wrong, but I watch other teams...
