That’s the real question. Also, it’s the underlying reason why this board often discusses fundraising, attendance, poor contracts, and the administration’s decision 10 years ago to not pursue Big Ten’s reported interest.
Their revenue generating programs took a step back but they have a lot more money to fund other sports, little debt, and they are able to money whip teams for coaches (see their latest basketball coach hire).
That’s highly unlikely. The NCAA and P5 are in the cross hairs because the conferences (non-profit entities) are making more than actual professional sports leagues and the labor (i.e., football and basketball) is compensated less than 5% of revenues
A handful of schools have already committed to playing for the big prize. The public at large hasn’t realized it yet. Wait till those new conference tv contracts kick in and there will be a dramatic difference. You think the SEC wins a lot now. Wait, till they can “legally” buy the best coaches...
The kid who tweeted is Jaron Willis 4star top 250 recruit from 2022 class. He committed to us in 2021 but decommitted toward the end of our season. He continued to post positive things about us including tweeting “What’s the good word” before the UGA game last year.
The players not getting coach Key who they are pushing very hard for to get the job. This is somewhat unique that guys go onto social media and stomp so loudly for an interim coach.
Not sure that’s the case. One of the articles on this site listed numerous potential candidates and Fritz had no support. If one of the top 4 were chosen, it would likely not be as much head scratching and disappointment with the pick.
Exactly! We are about lose a lot of players to the portal if it’s Fritz and good luck bringing some of the highly rated kids back through the portal. Just when we take a step forward in talent level, we are about to take multiple steps back. Also, I doubt Fritz will help out folks in seats.
