  1. 2020 Fall Ball

Just read it today, and I can't wait for baseball season to start!
  2. GT-Pitt Postponed

I believe the argument Milwaukee was making was that it could be changed to 8 this year because teams aren't playing their regular schedules, especially cupcake games, and may not even get in a full conference schedule. Similar to how the professional sports leagues have adapted this year...
  3. GT-Pitt Postponed

    Completely agree.
  4. Game 6 #GTvsBC Predictions

40-14 a shellacking? How about 73-7? Or whatever the final score was... I suspect both teams are angry after last week. Depends on who wants it more.
  5. Gameday!!!!

I have the Voodoo Ranger IPA Hoppy Pack from Costco, which has 4 different IPA's. Perhaps the same variety pack. Unfortunately, I took off work early to get ready, and am now 2 Rum & Dr. Pepper's and 2 Manhattans in. May not taste the IPA's when I get to that point...
  6. Article GT vs UCF Postgame Thread

If I'm not mistaken, and I can be from time to time, for non-conference games, the refs are usually from the away conference. Correct me if I am wrong. And if the refs can't perform their job fairly, they shouldn't have jobs. And that would fall on AD Stansbury to point that out.
  7. 2020 Atlanta Braves News

I agree that he had a serious injury that he was coming back from (i.e. shoulder capsule surgery), which is why he was on a pitch count. He threw a career high 134 pitches that night, in his 11th start after major surgery. Did that result in his second shoulder capsule surgery in 2013? Maybe...
  8. 2020 Atlanta Braves News

Brings up memories of the Mets first, and only, no-hitter in team history. Johann Santana was on a pitch count coming back from a shoulder injury. He reached that pitch count in the late innings while throwing a no-hitter... What's a manager to do in front of the home fans who have never had...
  9. 2020 Atlanta Braves News

Pitchers from the 90's? Take pitchers from the 70's or 80's like Nolan Ryan, Jim Palmer, Steve Carlton, Tom Seaver. They'd throw 150 pitches if they had to. Whatever it took. Pitch limits these days are only to protect the team's investment in $$'s. Do they help prevent injuries? I would say...
  10. All-time team

I believe Bruce Chen was also someone who attended Tech and played in the majors without playing baseball for Tech.
  11. A look at Joey Bart

It's sad to see teams taking advantage of this loophole this year, if that's what they are actually doing. 6 games is 10% of a 60 game season. For any team that's trying to win this year, that's pretty significant if the player you're leaving off your roster has a chance to help you win this...
  12. All-time team

I will never forget David Wright. Was signed to take over 3B from Tex, after Tex was drafted #5 overall, while I was a grad student at Tech. My Mets drafted Wright in the supplemental part of the first round, which was bittersweet as I wanted to see him come to Tech. However, he ended up as...
  13. 2020 Atlanta Braves News

Had a chance to be a hero tonight for the Braves. Relieved he wasn't...
  14. 2020 Atlanta Braves News

Yeah, I suspect both Maddux and Glavine would have adjusted to whatever strike zone was being called at the time. They knew where they could throw the ball for a strike, and put it there. Hence, Hall of Fame pitchers. Hopefully Tech's pitching coach can teach our young guns to locate where...
  15. 2020 Atlanta Braves News

Ironic. Braves fans complaining about pitches off the plate being called strikes. That's how Maddux and Glavine made their living. Especially Glavine. Getting pitches off the plate called strikes.
  16. 2020 Baseball - Postseason

I like that, but how many did he walk?
  17. ACC to play 10-game conference-only schedule for the 2020 season.

I don't know why we're having this discussion here, rather than in the COVID thread. But since this seems to be the status quo these days, you do realize that pneumonia is a complication of COVID, do you not? So how many of the pneumonia deaths since 2/1 have been COVID related but not...
  18. ACC to play 10-game conference-only schedule for the 2020 season.

Even if they don't try to "skirt" the rules, many FCS or G5 schools and conferences likely don't have the financial resources to conduct testing to the levels that the ACC, SEC, B1G, etc. have. So a much greater risk playing those teams. A game like GT vs. UGA at the end of the season though...
  19. 2020 Atlanta Braves News

As a Mets fan, hoping for a quick and complete recovery for Freddie and the rest of the players diagnosed. Freddie is the closest player to a Mets killer that the Braves have had since Larry "Chipper" Jones. A great talent and class act from what I have heard. Baseball is much better with...
  20. Facing revenue shortfall, Georgia Tech implementing furloughs

Totally agree that people need to support our programs now more than ever. GT baseball offered full refunds for season tickets this year. I declined. My primary purpose for having season tickets is to support the program (and be first in line for post-season tickets!). Missing Tech baseball...
