Glad you all held down the fort for the win last night. I had an appointment to have my blood pressure monitored this morning, so stayed away from the game last night...
I think we should be a #1 NIT seed if we don't make the NCAA, and therefore should host as long as possible. I don't expect to make the NCAA. BC was listed as one of the last 4 in by Charlie Creme, we were one of the first 4 out. If BC makes the NCAA, we would be the automatic qualifier from...
There are also some conferences that don't invite all teams. So, for the Ivy league as one, it looks like Brown and Cornell will also end their seasons with wins...
Way too many free baserunners, by Bartnicki and our bullpen. Too many extra bases after that from passed balls/wild pitches/stolen bases. A big error by Waddell. We were in way to giving a mood this weekend. Need to clean it up quickly, or we'll be coming home from Florida with a 2-4 ACC record.
The ACC has built a nice contingent in the MCLA rankings though. As of 3/2 (before Tech's win vs #1 South Carolina), we have:
#5 (tie) GT
#7 FSU
#9 BC
#14 VT
#19 Clemson
#27 (tie) Pittsburgh (others receiving votes)
Not the same as the D1 rankings though...
I don't think so Fred. You have Title IX considerations to start with. Then you look at the teams you would be joining in conference:
#1 Syracuse
#4 UNC
#8 UVA
#10 Notre Dame
#13 Duke
Those are the ACC teams that play D1 LAX and their current rankings. Although the other 5 teams would...
As D1baseball.com said about the GT - VT series: "Heralded VT starting pitcher Ian Seymour is the one to watch this weekend. Seymour has been terrific, striking out 26 and walking two in 14.1 innings of work."
We've gotten enough runs to win the first 2 somehow. Hope we break out tomorrow.
We've beaten NC State once. Beat them again and we're NCAA tourney bound. Lose and we'll have to see what the NCAA committee decides to do. At worst, should be a top seed in the NIT, in my opinion.
Not sure if that's good or bad for us. On paper an easier opponent to get to the next round, but...
I think we needed to win our first ACC tournament game to have a chance to be on the right side of the NCAA tournament bubble anyway. IF, and I say if, we win this game, how does playing Pitt...
I'm a Warren Nolan fan myself. His site makes it easy to check Men's basketball, Women's basketball, and baseball all in one shot. RPI, NET, ELO, whatever the next hot acronym will be.
The pitching stats that Fred had tells me we better stop walking and hitting batters, or the ERA stat that looks so good may not look as good when we get to ACC play...
