  1. Potential DC for Next Year

Agreed…uga outmatched us but they’ve done that to everyone. BC and Clemson are really the only games under Sherrer I thought the defense looked lost. If Key finds a perfect candidate then I’m all for upgrading but I think Sherrer can build on what we have and it will help with continuity and...
  2. Potential DC for Next Year

I don’t hate the idea of keeping Sherrer. He is experienced and seemed to do some good things once he took over. Our biggest issues are with talent. I’m sure Key will interview multiple options including Sherrer.
  3. Transfer Portal: Who do we need to target this offseason?

Every defensive position. We lose a lot of DBs and need to upgrade on DL and LB. Offense is pretty much set outside of some depth additions on OL or if a stud falls in our lap.
  4. Early BC spread

Im hoping Miami was a sign of whats to come with Sherrer taking over as DC and not a random blip like we occasionally saw with CGC (like UNC). Our team has been Jekyll and Hyde since CPJ left (even last year when Key took over).
  5. Injuries

Seems like we have a good chance of getting Blackburn, Lane, and DJ Moore back for the second half of the season. WR room would be stacked with everyone healthy.
  6. Injuries

Coach Key said in his interview today that Sylvain talked to his family about it and wants to come back to GT next year. Obviously things can change (as with any of our returning players) but as of now he’s coming back.
  7. Missed Tackles

I was replying to other comments about PFFs reputability. This thread has gone off topic from the OP.
  8. Tech loses DE Sylvain Yondjouen for the season

This is definitely a loss. No way to sugarcoat it, and i feel for Sylvain as he had high expectations this year and has battled injuries his whole career. But in the grand scheme of this team, sometimes the setbacks end up helping long term. 1) It will give us a chance to get Sylvain back...
  9. Missed Tackles

Its better than nothing and cheap so thats why teams use it. But it is literally some dudes in India getting paid <$5 per hour to follow a grading rubric. They have no way to know what play was called, did the player actually do his assignment, did the players make the right presnap adjustments...
  10. Missed Tackles

PFF graders are not scouts. They use offshore teams to watch film and follow a rubric for grading. Pretty sure most of the people "grading" plays have never played football and probably never even watched it until PFF hired them.
  11. Injuries

Travis Kelce got a hyperexended knee yesterday and still hasnt been ruled out for tomorrows game (likely will play by week 2). If he had gotten that in a game though, no way he would keep playing. They wouldnt have time to do a full diagnosis during the game and the pain would be too much...
  12. Tech vs. Louisville

It sounds like Faulkner runs a pretty fast pace offense so that might honestly be a benefit to us. Teams with slower offenses will be forced to speed up
  13. Pre Fall: Projected Depth Chart

I think we could see some special formations with Boyd and/or Jamal Haynes. Based on the Fall camp info it sounds like the coaches will find ways to get them on the field.
  14. Pre Fall: Projected Depth Chart

We should get the official depth chart tomorrow. Updating my predictions based on Fall camp buzz OFFENSE: QB: King, Pyron RB: Smith, Cooley, Felix OR Haynes WR: Leary, Blaylock OR Lane WR: Janneh, Moore, Boyd Slot: Rutherford, Singleton TE: Leonard, Seither LT: Robinson, Gibson LG...
  15. 2023 Ga. Tech Football Depth Chart

I think there are 6 guys that could possibly start and all 6 should play a lot. This is my attempt at guessing the pecking order. 1. Rutherford 2. Leary 3. Janneh (heard he had a good camp and has more size than any of the other receivers) 4. Blaylock 5. DJ Moore 6. Chase Lane
  16. Pre Fall: Projected Depth Chart

It looks like the roster was updated with weights: https://ramblinwreck.com/sports/m-footbl/roster/ I don’t think these are accurate though. Pyron was listed at 213 in the spring and now 208? Corey Robinson at 275 now down from 294? Sylvain at 248 down from 257? I’m wondering if they lowered...
  17. Pre Fall: Projected Depth Chart

The TD he gutted out against VT where his helmet came off was when I knew he was going to be different (but also got me a little worried about injury). We haven’t had a QB that plays with that type of toughness in a while.
  18. Pre Fall: Projected Depth Chart

Excited to see him play! And great to hear the strength staff is good…that is one of the most underrated aspects of cfb
  19. Pre Fall: Projected Depth Chart

Don’t sleep on Singleton at WR either. Would not be surprised to see him be in the 2 deep or even start at some point this year
