New in '15: Cottrell brings threatening speed

FSU won a lot of games in the 90's because they could put speed on the field two and three deep at WR and RB. It wore a defense down and magnified every mistake. It also makes a defense tentative. I think a good case can be made that for the next three years or so, we will be able to put more...

Can GT make the CFP in 2015?

FSU had played a lot of really bad football during several games, and that was why everybody wanted to drop the out.

Can GT make the CFP in 2015?

I say the defense takes a big step forward, we lose our usual brainfart game, but wins over FSU, ND, CU, uga, and CU again, and VT beating tOSU gives the ACC and us enough credibility to slip in. But the brainfart needs to be early and close.

I can't get excited about this year's offense

The OL, I think, in the spring game was Chamberlain, Braun, Brigham, Burden, and Joe. I think that's a pretty tough group and would abuse a lot of defenses. (I know Brigham is no longer playing) Additionally, the O's success might validate what some have been saying that AB, BB, and WR are...

    Skill positions

Wasn't Skov primarily a blocker? I expect CPJ will take advantage of that. I expect to see more passing from Thomas with Skov blocking for him. I can remember passes last year where Laskey or Days whiffed on their blocks and Thomas didn't have time to set his feet to hit an open receiver...

I can't get excited about this year's offense

because every time I start thinking about what type team and year we will have, the Defense comes to the front of my mind. I love the Offense and think it will be very good, but I haven't been this excited about our Defense since 1985. In '83 and '84 you could see something was developing...

Macon Telegraph: Stability at quarterback raises the bar at Georgia Tech

I suspect we will see Byerly much sooner in games this year. Maybe CPJ wanted JT to get all the experience he could last year. He might want to protect him more this year. With the inexperience at A&B backs, will defenses try to make Thomas pitch more often? That would make sense; take JT...

    Last Year's UGA Game

We owe them a bushel of late heart breaking losses. I want a ten year stretch where each year we score with less than a minute to win the game. I want them to know it's coming and be helpless and hopeless. I want them so depressed they don't even bother to set their DVR's. I want them to be...

AJC: Dennis Andrews no longer onthe Team

"The further away from the ball your position is, the quicker you can play!" I think the first time I heard this was from O'Leary 20 years ago. A Backs and Wide Receivers are the farthest away in our offense. Closest to the ball is where we have the most experience. In CPJ's first year in 08...

AJC: Dennis Andrews no longer onthe Team

Kickoff to the time of year when you don't want to open any newspaper or Tech site because the news will almost always be bad from now until the first game.

Well, it might have been good for Tech, but it was HELL on me.

    The Case for Ted Roof

One thing that stands out to me about last year was how well we recovered from the amount of off season attrition. It was brutal. I think, especially on defense, that it took 3-5 games for the gaps to be filled. It was not unusual to see three true freshmen on the field at the same time on D...

Prior to our game against UVA in 1990...

There were several similarities between 1989 and 2014, mainly how each team got so much better as the year progressed. I would probably have punched Bobby Ross in the face if I had run into him after the South Carolina loss (a team we had beaten 38-0 the year before) to start that team 0-3...

Notre Dame Football 2015 Off-Season Preview: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

I'm totally offended by your "deeper, darker" put down as if being 'darker' is somehow evil. Let's call it what it is, bigotry. You see where this stupidity goes when you search everybody's vocabulary or writing for offense. Mackerel snapper, trailer trash, vomit eaters (my favorite), thugs...

    The second half

I've seen trout fishing guides work a stream the way CPJ works a ball game. They start off by trying the basic flies and patterns. They catch a couple here and there, hit different types of water. Then they pull out some specific fly, pull a leg off it, tie on a piece of red thread, attach a...

Notre Dame Football 2015 Off-Season Preview: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The ND game this year is arguably the biggest one Tech has played since the '90 Citrus Bowl. I fully expect ND to beat Texas and UVA and be ranked higher than sex. If, if, if we are 2-0 going into that game and administer the kind of butt whupping that every ND fan and player deserves because...

    An Interesting Story

Boy, do I remember that game. I was living in South Carolina at the time. Clemson was coming off NCAA probation, but the ACC (led by Swofford at UNC) had added an additional year to Clemson's probation. That is why Clemson fans are nearly as rabid as NC State to get UNC on Death Penalty now...

    Depth Chart released

Well, just because Johnson led us to a Coastal Crown, beat uga in Athens, took FSU to the wire, and won the Orange Bowl and gave us our first Top Ten finish in long time, that DOES NOT mean he knows how to fill out a post spring depth chart properly.
