  1. Georgia Tech football stats - 9/19/2022 - It's worse than you thought

The stats are what you would expect after watching every Collins game. Historically POOR. Today the worst was the awful first down play calling and execution. I counted (and maybe missed some) 11 plays on our first downs where we made one yard or less. The second worst was not trying a backup...
  2. Georgia Tech football stats - 9/19/2022 - It's worse than you thought

And Washington, Oliver, and Yates and others.
  3. PFF Week 2 Grades

I agree that the run impacts shortening the game but we were still snapping the ball with lots of time on the run clock. Not the best way to shorten the game.
  4. Defensive Stats after 2 games

Absolutely. When they rush straight at the QB he most often jukes/fakes inside and then beats our rusher outside (where we no longer have anybody). If our rusher would charge about a yard or so outside the QB, breakdown with outside position, the QB has no choice in the matter and must go inside...
  5. Clemson 41 - GT 10

Fusile was at RG and Williams at RT most of the game. Fusile is a second year player on this team and evidence indicates that he earned his spot in camp. There are some real issues with this team like TE and WR performance, STs, penalties, and continued coaching issues.
  6. Clemson 41 - GT 10

Overall Sims looked much better. He did however throw an easy pick six that was dropped and on another play looked like the old Sims in panic and made a bad decision throw that should have been an interception. Too many side ways throws for no yardage and too few throws to get the ball up field...
  7. MBS ROLL CALL!

Daughter and I in mezz section. Go DS and McD
  8. Fall Camp News

I spent my time at Fan Day talking to three players, RB D Smith, Receiver Moore, and Oline Fusile. While I enjoyed and was impressed with all three discussions I was extremely taken with Fusile. And he is a lot better looking than those pictures. Very smart, focused, friendly, and came across as...
  9. Juanyeh at the Combine

Lenny Snow. It ruined his career.
  10. 2022 Spring Game

Blackstrain and PJ looked very good. The small fast guys made several plays but their catching needs some work. Freshman Moore looked good. Not much production from the TEs. DBs were giving much closer coverage but did not win the 50/50 balls. Agree with too many wide and high snaps. Some...
  11. Where to begin? Offense or Defense?

Paul Johnson did this in reverse. He knew he could recruit players to fit his O scheme which he knew would work and he knew how to coach. Certainly The OL, BB, and ABs were uniquely recruited to his scheme. Unfortunately for various reasons he was not able to recruit enough elite talent to have...
  12. Where to begin? Offense or Defense?

I know a coach who won 70% of his games over 25 years. Of the D type players available he put the best at the positions that fit his scheme. He coached his scheme, kept it simple, and stayed with it because he knew it worked if properly coached. . He evaluated the rest of the talent and...
  13. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

My brother spent a season as a college student assistant under coach Creel at Lakeside and went on himself to be a really good D coach. Even to this day he quotes coach Creel on situational basics on D.
  14. Lets look at what the 2020 covid season did to football

The great Alabama teams seem to have an elite QB, RB, WR(s), and DL, with solid kicking, ST(s), and OL. This year they are missing some of those elites. The Ga team is mature, deep, lots of talent with solid coaching, and below average competition from the other powerhouses.
  15. OC and DC replacement thoughts!!

Unfortunately if Collins is still in charge of the "practice scheme" and "buddy culture" the new coordinators may be very handicapped in what they can improve. We can see the game day stuff but what actually goes on in prep and practice, this past 3 years and next year, is pretty much unknown...
  16. Jordan Yates

Seems like the argument comes down to the definition of "worst". Probably will not be finally decided until we get some decent OL blocking to eliminate the Sims bad decisions/bad throws/turnovers or the unscripted Yates run-for-your-life offense where anything can happen.
  17. OK, #BCvsGT Postgame. BC wins 41-30

115 yards in penalties another 500+ yards for the opponent two more examples of bad clock management way too many blown coverages way too many missed tackles missed critical money down stops no pass rush poor pass protection late sideline decisions D adjustments seem to only happen at half time...
  18. OK, #BCvsGT Postgame. BC wins 41-30

I am sure there is way more wrong with the coaching than what I am seeing, but here goes with my opinion. The coaches are dedicated to a very specific system/scheme, both OC and DC. They seem unbendable. The Ohio States, Alabamas, and Georgies have the talent to be successful with most any...
  19. OK, #BCvsGT Postgame. BC wins 41-30

Unfortunately consistent and predictable. We also took a time out (again when we were behind) when we could not decide on a play in the red zone, and we needed that time out at the end. Again consistent and predictable poor clock management.
  20. Jeff Sims

After the BC game maybe we can get off the QB controversy. Under pressure Sims stays in the pocket until he is consumed (which is quick) and then slings a pass, some of which are very good and some of which are bad or intercepted. Yates gets quickly flushed out of the pocket in run-for-your-life...
