A recent series of posts in another thread was addressing the “elite” vision of itself that the SEC promotes. “It just means more.”
This morning, I was invited to a breakfast where an Asst AD at an SEC school addressed that.
He started by describing the economics. In just eight home games, the...
I suppose you didn’t read it either. It clearly stated that …
“A lawsuit currently underway may result in athletes being classified as employees. That would have momentous implications for an organization (NCAA) that’s already severely diminished in importance.
Realignment and virtually...
I suppose you didn’t read the article. The basis of it was that IF players become employees… who is in a better position to manage it, the NCAA and a hodgepodge of conferences or the NFL.
Who says they have to? The Navy doesn't get involved in the inner workings of an engineering school. They do pay students and provide guidance towards an eventual career in the military.
One of the advantages of the PGA/LIV integration is that the Saudis are very well versed in managing global...
Do I think they are all in TODAY? No. But the article points out that the NCAA is doing well financially (even with the lack of governance) but could be doing exponentially better under professional management, much like what the NFL could bring.
ROTC students ARE employees of the Federal...
Perhaps draft is not the right word. If I wanted to go NROTC, I list 3 schools, apply, get accepted .... pick one. Then ... the NFL (or NewCo), controls the rules for transfer. For example, as I recall, you can't screw around in ROTC. If you fail to graduate, you have to repay your tuition and...
I think it's a great idea, and probably inevitable. The NCAA has been totally feckless and irrelevant on the changes happening to CFB. I could imagine a scenario similar to ROTC ... get drafted to a school but the NFL pays you a salary and pays the school for the SA's education and training...
Not sure. But streaming is suffering from saturation as the average time to locate a program increases. Consumers are simply electing to find something else to do.
As more streaming comes board, so too does the need for more infrastructure. Fewer cable tv trucks, but more routers, data centers...
Maybe. Looking at the AP poll ... GA, AL, TN, LSU, Ole Miss and soon to be Texas and Oklahoma are all in the Top 25 and still have a shot. Or at least, they think they do.
I looked at various sources on the "best conference" and this is the snapshot I think makes sense.
Is the SEC better than other conferences? Yes and no.
Yes, in the since that it is better balanced. Urban Meyer, who coached at both the Ohio State University and the University of Florida, says...
I don't really follow Wisconsin much, but Arkansas doesn't have a strong high school program. That's the main reason Malzahn turned them down after he got dismissed. Missouri is not that far behind. So you can be the main player in your state, but that only matters if your state can produce...
No, he wouldn’t be shocked. You can barely find Auburn swag in lower Alabama, that’s a Tide stronghold. And try to buy an Alabama hat in Knoxville. Very difficult.
FWIW, you can barely find Tech swag in Atlanta other than the bookstore on campus.
LSU IS a dominating team in the West. As I recall, LSU has the most NFL talent in play today. They are one of only two states that have no serious in state rival for talent. They are SUPPOSED to win.
When I was a kid, before the age of cable, you would go to Church on Sunday and the priest would announce football scores before Mass. Alabama, Auburn, and LSU (due to where I lived.)
But never the ACC! 🤔
Those Catholics sure had an agenda.
