I would not worry about it too much. They have to fill pages and they can rightfully claim (Athlon, I mean) to have been the first to dig up, make up, throw together, other coaches comments and pretend that it was real. I am not as concerned about what other coaches say about our team as I am...
I always thought the whole thing was a gimmick designed to give gullible fans something to talk about and good for a brief sideline photo op for the media then I saw Clemson's former defensive coordinator just about foaming at the mouth like he had rabies or something while being "restrained" by...
Unlike some, Coach Key has the good sense not to act the fool and require a "get back coach" which seems to have reached the level of just more entertainment for the masses who are amused by such antics.
It is hard to know what to make of these Athlon articles that purportedly come from quotes gathered by opposing coaches, presumably assistants as I cannot imagine head coaches wanting to be bothered with such. In general, the tone seems to be that BC, Tech, UVA, and Virginia Tech all have...
A modern day IPTAY eh? Back when Charlie Pell was at Clemson, he cheated, got caught and Carolina fans had great fun with T shirts and the like proclaiming that IPTAY meant "Its Probation Time Again Ya'll" Of course, that was when the NCAA had the backbone of a snail instead of being totally...
UVA, SC State, BC, Bowling Green are all likely wins. (Forgive me if I have already jinxed us. Tell you what, I will submit penance by watching the 1999 UVA game when we were riding high at #7 with a Heisman Trophy candidate at quarterback) We won 5 games last year with a somewhat more...
The tale of the Jackets' 2023 season. It begins...and it ends with line play on both sides of the ball. We have a somewhat easier schedule. We have several opponents in various stages of disarray for one reason or another and we have a confident, and competent coaching staff. Block better...
Beat Louisville and Wake Forest early on the Over is a lock. Lose one or both then it gets dicey. This schedule is more reasonable than the ones we have had in recent years but lose a couple of early games that could be won and it might unravel in a hurry. IIWII
I don't care who they lost from last year although Hartman was a great player for Wake. A Clawson coached team is not going to be anyone's patsy. Winning both Louisville and Wake early in the year would do wonders for this team's confidence. Win both of those games and a pretty special...
That's a lot of championships, titles, etc. Coaches that know about winning championships is a good start. The difference in the team once Key took over were to my less than discerning eyes pretty obvious. Will it carry over to next year? I don't see why not but SOWEGA made some good points...
The corollary is "I'd rather be lucky than good." Lefty Gomez pitcher for the New York Yankees circa 1930. Safe to say, he was on more pennant winners than Branch but Branch had a lot less talent to work with too.
I don't know anything about Louisville but six wins seems a reasonable goal. We might win 7 or drop to 4 if injuries pile up. Despite the presence of Ole Miss, UGA, and Clemson the schedule seems a tad easier than in recent years but that could just be my imagination.
Boy, you haven't lived until you have been a Miami coach that just raised the ire of the Canesinsight crowd. At the height of hate Geoff or Bill Lewis mania did anyone ever hire a plane with a "Fire ________"? That happened to Golden and Manny at least twice. I admit Miami has high standards...
