We lost three players of note off the defense last year and they were our best players who made things happen. I am sorry Charlie that you came along at a low point on the Flats. You gave it everything you had and deserved a better fate.
Hell, I would blitz some and then blitz some more from every direction. What do they have to lose? What I don't like seeing is our beefy linemen who can't move, standing there playing patty cake with the opposing offensive line. We are not getting any push.
If our lines were better we would have a winning season and a bowl. It looks as though we need to score about 30 points a game to win. The defensive front 7 is not physical and will get abused by some teams that we should beat. I am still holding to my 5 win preseason prediction. The...
Not much to say. We beat an overmatched team. We have good receivers, good running backs, and a gunslinger at quarterback. Defense is not very good especially the front seven. We will have to score 28 plus points in nearly every game to win. This team will have opposing fans saying "I went...
I don't know that I would call it disdain but Dodd was asked point blank by the SEC Commissioner at a Grant Field doubleheader that featured Georgia vs Ole Miss and Tech vs. Kentucky (I think) if he would agree to play at least one of the Mississippi schools. With Johnny Vaught standing right...
Difference of opinion. I don't think Louisville is that good. I would put them after UNC and Miami. Who knows but Wake Forest might possibly be better. I would put them 6th or 7th but that is just me. We will see how it goes.
I did not keep up with the number but after watching the game twice, I came away with the conviction that our defense in general and our secondary in particular needs a lot of improvement in tackling fundamentals. I do not believe that there were only 14 missed tackles.
I will never get used to geek engineer humor. OK, I concede the point. Maybe the Duke revival has shaken the very foundations of the Milky Way after all.
"...but Duke right now looks to be one of the top 3 teams in the ACC." Sacrilege. What is the world coming to? If this is not a sign of the end times I don't know what is. After a review of the game, I agree with you. Duke has a fine football team and boy howdy, were they ready to play.
I don't need a whole lot of data when I see wide receivers running loose and breaking arm tackles like they were the second coming of Jim Brown. I don't think Plummer got pressured at all much less sacked.
If he did, he was being true to his coaching roots. He probably heard O'Leary chewing out any number of assistants when he was a player. Christ alone knows what he heard from Saban. The mind boggles at the things being said in the heat of the moment.
They might be but they are not really any better than Louisville. A couple of timely turnovers and a hot quarterback can make a difference in a game against either of them whereas against UGA those things would be a minor annoyance.
Only on a Tech forum would a Pascal quote be mentioned. The odds of something similar happening on say the Miami or Clemson forum is about the same as the moon falling out of the sky.
Talent is never an issue with Clemson, FSU, Miami, and to a lesser extent UNC. Getting something out of that talent, well, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. IIWII
I think you made good conclusions about all of those teams except Louisville and Tech. Personally, I don't think either of them is going to set the world on fire and would not be surprised if Tech ends up with a losing record. There are simply no quick fixes to problems on both lines...
This reminds me of the first year FSU was in the ACC. They were very good at the height of Bowdon mania but Clemson had been the bell cow of the ACC for quite some time. When they met, there was a lot of discussion about FSU being heavily favored even though the game was at Clemson. The...
