  1. Syracuse Post Game

We are not the only ones throwing the bubble screen. It seems like, (probably not but I am given to hyperbole anyway) every game I watched had bubble screens being thrown usually unsuccessfully. I don't get it either unless coordinators think it makes them look smart.
  2. Syracuse Post Game

2nd and 22 from their own 14 yard line would make even a gunslinger like McCord pause and might make him nervous. I would have brought the house on the next play and see just how much composure he had with Efford or Tatum coming at him full steam. Might not have worked but 3rd and 22 with an...
  3. Syracuse Post Game

I would not worry about it too much. They and me are just blowing off steam. Slaughter VMI and all will be well...for awhile anyway.
  4. Syracuse Post Game

Because our defense is really awful and the vaunted offensive line is helpless against a really good defense although Syracuse's defense is the same one that allowed a MAC team to run all over them with the running back getting over 200 yards alone. The odds on are whether or not we win six games.
  5. Syracuse Post Game

I thought it would have been 1st and 22 but you are probably right which in my view makes it a good decision to back them up and put pressure on McCord for the first time in the game.
  6. Syracuse Post Game

I understand your reasoning but taking the penalty puts pressure on McCord facing a first and what was it? 22 yards or so. Blitz the SOB and hit him, hit him hard and see if that does not unnerve him a bit. An incomplete pass stops the clock. We actually had a couple of chances to win a...
  7. Syracuse Post Game

Love your enthusiasm and support for the team...that said, you are looking at a team that is not that good. We will be fortunate to win 6 games with this defense. It is that bad.
  8. Syracuse Post Game

Good observations, the problem I have with the coaches was he had been running that seam route all day against mismatched linebackers and then a mismatched DB. He was the go to guy, their best all around athlete, the comfort blanket, it was going to him in crunch time and we let them isolate...
  9. NIU 16, ND 14 FINAL

Been there done that. They beat us a few years ago as well.
  10. Syracuse Post Game

I do too, but I don't believe it for a moment having watched a MAC team take them to the limit.
  11. Syracuse Post Game

Well, Tech's schedule is ranked the hardest in the ACC and 10th hardest in the nation. Syracuse's schedule is ranked 2nd easiest in the ACC and one of the easiest in the nation. I would rather have Syracuse's schedule myself but that is just me. Dodd used to schedule LSU, Alabama, Tennessee...
  12. Syracuse Post Game

That is the beauty of being a fan. Saturday night quarterbacking is such fun.
  13. Syracuse Post Game

We had a game years ago, where we sort of faked the onside kick and kicked the pooch kick. The other team's players looked at that pooch kick like it was snake or something and we got it. Can't remember the outcome but they were ready for the onside kick but the pooch kick seemed to mesmerize...
  14. Syracuse Post Game

Syracuse, top of the heap? Top of the dung heap maybe. This is a team that gave up 200 yards to an unknown Ohio running back and has the second easiest ACC schedule and one of the easiest schedules in the country. They came within an almost intercepted middle screen or a missed third down...
  15. Syracuse Post Game

That is true. We did not deserve to win and that Syracuse call for the middle screen nearly ended in disaster for them. If Effords had gotten there a split second sooner, he would have taken that ball away from the running back who juggled it twice. The expression on his face said it all...
  16. Syracuse Post Game

At least you are honest...something that is sometimes not true of me. I do not share your optimism for the simple reason that I have little confidence in our defense getting pressure on any quarterback but I am happy to be proven wrong.
  17. Syracuse Post Game

You bring up an interesting point what if McCord actually misses one on second down? That changes the dynamics considerably. Who knows? They may have tried that middle screen again.
  18. Syracuse Post Game

I kind of agree with you on taking the penalty given the field position but if you can't stop a team on 3rd and 10 well, its pretty academic anyway.
  19. Syracuse Post Game

Well, at 70 years of age, I am not going to Syracuse, New York that is for damn sure. I only attend a couple of games a year these days as it is always the Elons, VMIs, etc. That is just the way it is.
  20. Syracuse Post Game

Stech, are you drinking again? The defense is awful which puts the offense in a position of having to score more than four touchdowns a game to win. This is a mid tier ACC team with good players here and there but any team in this era of shotgun formations and receivers who can get twenty...
