I don't know if I would call it moving the pile as much as Tech's running backs have a way of finding a crease and displaying impressive leg drive and determination to get to the pay dirt. Score touchdowns Saturday and everything else will take care of itself.
I wish I had your confidence...I don't because I don't think we can consistently apply pressure to McCord. As for running it down their throats. Yep. Ohio ate them up with over 200 yards rushing with an offensive line that looked like a bunch of fat fraternity boys to be honest. If they...
It is imperative to score touchdowns. Ohio had three long drives in the first half and ended up kicking three field goals that is a prescription for losing to this team.
I am underrating our defense because they cannot get pressure on the quarterback consistently which is the primary factor in separating the really good teams from also rans. In that regard, I remain a skeptic until I see McCord on the ground ala that poor soul that played quarterback for Miami...
I don't know how far back your experience goes but Dodd routinely did it but he always had his best athletes on defense. Fast, mobile, linebackers and secondary.
True but I am telling you McCord will not hesitate to go deep. His receivers as a group are tall and fast. Given time he will light up just about any secondary.
I like the thinking, the problem is that Syracuse is more than capable of scoring 17 points in a quarter or half much less the entire game. They are a good team especially on offense, defense can be shaky at times.
I think we should get that big Ohio running back Tyus and trot him out there. Syracuse would have massive heart attacks on their defense. That guy is still giving their defensive coaches nightmares.
I think this is a reasonable assumption as long as McCord has time, they will score a bunch. That guy is fearless and not afraid to go for the big play and they have playmakers galore especially the tight end and a couple of really good receivers.
I picked Tech to win by about a touchdown but disclaimer for those who would wager money on this game...I would not touch it with a ten foot pole. Syracuse is certainly capable of shredding our secondary and running away with it. We do not need to get in a shootout with this team. Limit their...
I agree about Tech but I don't think FSU is going to get it turned around until Norvell gives up on DJ. He is the very picture of what Spurrier would say about some of his own players: "Looks like Tarzan...plays like Jane". I just don't think FSU is all that good, certainly should not have...
I think King is accurate throwing long but he did miss one to Singleton on what looked to be a flag pattern to the corner. If I am Syracuse, I would make stopping the run priority one. If you don't, Tech will run it and run it and run it some more which makes for a very long day on defense. I...
I hate to say it as this kind of thing has a way of becoming automatic but this one is pretty much a must win along with Duke. Losing to a powerhouse like Miami, Notre Dame, and Georgia is one thing but this one is entirely within our ability to win. The blueprint could not be more simple...
I agree with your statement about Syracuse. If they are smart, they will make King beat them with his arm. Syracuse must be smart with the ball and keep McCord clean. If he is getting rocked, they will lose. I was sort of impressed with the Orange until I saw the obvious mismatches with...
Well, to be fair. Syracuse has a passel of tall fast receivers who Ohio struggled to cover. It was a huge mismatch all the way around. That said, number 2 for Ohio Tyus III rushed for over 200 yards and made it look pretty easy consistently beating Syracuse defenders to the corner and...
Give McCord time and have him hit number 19 in full stride and you will have plenty to be scared about. DJ was a mobile quarterback of sorts but I would much rather have McCord. That guy puts the ball right on the money IF he has time to see the field. They would run short crossing patterns...
Pretty much my observations from watching the first half of the whole Syracuse-Ohio game. McCord is very accurate given time. He is not a runner but not a statue either. Number 19, a tight end is the one to watch as he is big, fast, and can break tackles. Ohio lost this game by kicking three...
