ATLANTA, GA - Powered by a 40-point second half, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (8-2) overcame an 8-point halftime deficit en route to a 65-60 home victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores (7-3) Saturday afternoon at McCamish Pavilion.

The Yellow Jackets struggled offensively in the first half, converting just 28% of their field goal attempts and struggling to find their rhythm against a variety of defensive sets from the visiting Commodores. For most of the half the Jackets defense was about as sharp as its offense, allowing Vanderbilt to convert 55% of their field goal tries, including three 3-pointers.

All in all a lackadaisical effort from the Yellow Jackets allowed the Commodores to go in to the halftime break up 33-25. The visitors from Nashville had control of the game and Tech had few, if any, answers.

Georgia Tech QB Justin Thomas #5 scrambles on an option keeper

CHARLOTTE, NC - In an ACC Championship game with playoff implications and the nation's attention, the #11 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (10-3, 6-2) fell just short against the #4 Florida State Seminoles (13-0, 8-0) by a final score of 37-35 Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium.

Despite the shortcoming in the W/L column, Georgia Tech proved they could compete and go toe-to-toe with the undefeated national champions. The Jackets scored touchdowns on each of their first three possessions, racking up 196 yards on the ground and completing their only pass attempt for 25 yards.

The problem, however, was slowing down Heisman trophy-winning quarterback Jameis Winston and his arsenal of offensive weapons.

Georgia Tech defensive back DJ White #28 and team celebrate after defeating Georgia in overtime!

ATHENS, GA - There were moments, plural, all season long when they could have given up. There were moments, plural, on Saturday when they could have caved. Instead, the 2014 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (10-2, 6-2) looked adversity in the eye time and time again and fought their way to an undisputed 30-24 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday in Sanford Stadium.

And there is no denying they earned it.

Saturday's battle between the Yellow Jackets and Bulldogs was the 109th edition of Clean, Old Fashioned Hate and included all the elements of an instant classic. The teams alternated scores throughout regulation, combined for three lost fumbles within two yards of the end zone, and continually delivered seemingly game-ending body blows. Georgia's go-ahead touchdown with 18 seconds remaining in regulation could have been the final nail in Georgia Tech's coffin if not for a 53-yard, game-tying field goal by Harrison Butker as time expired.
