Georgia Tech B-back Synjyn Days #10 takes advantage of a block by A-back BJ Bostic #7

RALEIGH, NC - The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (8-2, 5-2) set a team and conference season high with its 479 net rushing yards while defeating the NC State Wolfpack (5-5, 1-5) on the road at Carter Finley Stadium with the final score 56-23. The last time the Jackets had more yards on the ground was in the record-breaking match against the Kansas Jayhawks in 2011.

While the box score highlights Tech’s power running game, the defense stole the show in the second quarter by forcing three Wolfpack turnovers.

In their first drive in the second quarter, NC State was threatening a go-ahead score from Tech’s 5 yard line before a well-defended pass by NCSU quarterback Jacoby Brissett got tipped off of GT Chris Milton’s foot into the hands of linebacker Quayshawn Nealy for the interception. During the attempt to run the ball back for the pick six, NCSU fullback Jaylen Samuels caught up with Nealy on his 71 yard trek and stripped the ball from behind to give the ball back to NC State.

Exactly two plays later, Tech’s DJ White gets redemption by reading Brissett’s eyes for the interception and 38 yard touchdown return to help Georgia Tech gain a 21-13 advantage. The Tech defense, however, was still not done with taking advantage of Wolfpack’s offense.

ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets successfully completed their preseason campaign with a convincing 74-41 victory over the Clayton State Lakers Friday night at McCamish Pavilion. Twelve players saw 10+ minutes with 5 players reaching double-digit point totals.

Given the number of new faces that joined the program many fans wondered how the team would gel and who would form the starting five. Tonight that five was G Travis Jorgenson, F Marcus Georges-Hunt, F Quinton Stephens, F Robert Sampson, and C Demarco Cox.

With the game under control from the start Head Coach Brian Gregory went deep into the bench and rotated in 9 different players before the under 16-minute timeout. It was a planned strategy before the game even started.

Georgia Tech B-back Synjyn Days #10 finds a running lane for a touchdown

ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-2, 4-2) combined an early offensive surge with a dominating defensive effort to win its final ACC Coastal match-up of the year against the Virginia Cavaliers (4-5, 2-3). The Jackets sprinted out to a 21-7 lead in barely more than one quarter of play, which was more than enough to coast to a 35-10 win Saturday afternoon at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Tech opened in commanding fashion by scoring touchdowns on each of its first three possessions. On the Jackets' first series the ground game repeatedly took advantage of space on the edge and capitalized with a 14-yard touchdown run from running back Deon Hill. The drive marked the seventh time in nine games that Tech has scored on its first drive of the game.

The Jackets' offense continued rolling on their next two drives with touchdowns through the air, the first on a deep 18-yard comeback route by wide receiver DeAndre Smelter and the second on an 11-yard jump ball to wide receiver Darren Waller. When asked Smelter acknowledged it was the first time Tech ran his touchdown-scoring play this year. "We saw some things that we could do against their cornerbacks. We were working on it all week at practice and executed it well today."
