Man it's none of that. It's actually the offense that is keeping the game within one score bc they are scoring with a limited number possessions.
In which games? Because our offense gained, what, 120 yards against Clemson? We had 11 possessions and scored once? Defense forced 6 punts? Miami game, offense gave up 14 points and defense allowed 21 points. We had 12 possessions and scored 3 times? What am I missing?
Like he was saying, the offense is obviously the better unit. It's been that way for 9 years. But this programs identity is offense and scoring points. That's what Paul Johnson has built. And our offense continuously puts up duds in big games against our toughest opponents. This program is built to win shootouts and we just don't very often. Our defense has been garbage for 8 years and the one year we were loaded on defense (2008) we got noticeably worse as the season went on. We've had 3 DC's and nothing has changed. There's been one constant.
