When does Pastner feel heat

We lack the fake it until you make it gene in abundance. Engineers are too analytical by nature. It's all about what logical, scientific, etc. We tend to dismiss, diminish, underestimate the power of positive thinking & constructing plans based on hope. GT fans decide not to support the program because they look at our program on paper, start analyzing all the weaknesses, etc instead of focus on leveraging the strengths we have & try to put them to good use. We should be state of the art in everything technically related in the sports world giving us great advantage, instead we lag Alabama and FSU because we moan about hard courses, lack of loose women, rich MFers to bankroll our programs, ugh. We have the rich MFers and fans throughout the spectrum, but they go all analytical on us to our detriment. It's in our DNA unfortunately.
33 - I think you summed it up really well. There are only a few GT fans (graduates) that I’ve come know over the years that do not fit this description.

It also causes Tech fans to not fall in love with coaches. We tend to lead with our criticism. Even Bobby Dodd, perhaps the most beloved coach in Tech history, is now remembered by younger Tech fans as the coach who ruined our program by getting us out of the SEC.

A larger group of fans wearing rose colored glasses would not fix everything but it would help counter the constant naysaying.

I think there is something else at play here. And the here in this case is both The Swarm, chat rooms in general, and talk among friends offline. You are much more likely to get a discussion going by complaining about a situation or policy than by agreeing. It's human nature to engage people who find fault with something you generally feel positive toward. It can be religion or politics or sports, and the discussion threads look very similar. I am an amateur chef and I see arguments over comments about how much fish sauce goes in khao soi gai. The real answer is, "stop when it tastes the way you want it." But pages can pass before someone says, "Oh yeah, and the galangal should be added in big pieces." Off we go again.

This is the thing that I’ve never understood about the GT fan base as a “sidewalk” fan. I certainly believe strongly in humility, but sheesh.

You laid it out much more eloquently than I could have, but it still strong here. Hell, look no further than this thread alone and people crapping on an ACC title…as if every other team wasn’t playing under the same rules.

I’ll never understand it.
As a sidewalk fan I have to imagine you sometimes have to say to yourself "how did I get stuck with these guys?" Say you didn't follow ACC basketball at all and read these threads. You would have to think that GT hasn't been over .500 in the conference since Pastner got here and probably hasn't been close to .500 in more than a dozen years.

The last year and a half has been awful. It is a cause for concern. These weak attempts to erase the past are as tiresome as they are dishonest.

For me, I just don't pay mind to the complaints. Fonts gonna do what fonts gonna do, me included. I enjoy that there are enough informed, passionate fans to have a decent forum.

The worst opinions are the loudest and most repeated. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How someone can be loud on a textual forum is a mystery, but it happens

I can see us having a basketball program like UVA here. Better, in fact. There are a ton of different ways to fix a program, but you have to pick a path.

We seem to pick a coach instead of picking a path. Figure out what you want to be, and get a coach that fits that.

Somewhere in the planning are numbers like $.

A former u of houston hotel operations student remembered the hey days of basketball. With no plan he purchased the right to run athletics by building sports facilities using $$ from his restaurants. He went on to own the Golden Nugget casino and pour in $$ .
Today U of H BB is ranked #2.

Gt has tons of grads we big nest eggs.

Pastner needs to go for multiple reasons. Outside of the team sucking, this team needs a cultural reset. We can’t continue down this death spiral because not only will it kill recruiting, but it will kill future student enthusiasm. If the games students turn out to are massive blowouts, then what encourages them to show up? Why spend a good portion of your day watching a bad team put no effort in and get blown out? Pastner might not be the only problem, but we know he isn’t part of the solution. Keeping him around is just further delaying a fix and losing another generation of passionate Tech fans/potential future donors

Rough day at the coliseum today. woof. Jackets did not look like they belonged in same sport as Dook, let alone same conference. Objectively, this is bad and a change needs to happen at the end of this season. If Reveno were still on the bench, I would probably suggest we fire coach right now, but I don't think we have any assistant coaches with head coach experience. Fire him asap so you get a new coach asap who can try to keep some kids from leaving. :-(
