What's your game plan to beat UGA?

Bingo. It's like Pastner says: "Get old and stay old." This is the formula for a school like Tech: find good players, redshirt them until they a) learn what they are doing and b) have picked up a few gray hairs. Then and only then can we start to play against Ugag with a good prospect for success. That will mean some time and fewer wins until we get old. Then, if it turns out Key has the eye for talent and knows how to develop it (biggggg question), we can start to think about whipping the dogs.

Btw, when Pastner got the team he wanted we a) won 17 regular season games and the ACC and b) went to the Big Show and made the Sweet 16. The formula works.
yeah i think paul johnson kind of showed that a program like us is only as strong as our senior class. as far as true composite 4* we get like 2-3 every class with occasional down years like 2019 and 2023 during our coaching search where out of those classes only jamious griffin was a composite 4* (yikes). since 2016 we’ve only had 14 so the math is about right. so first we absolutely have to increase that number or we will continue to just get out athlete’d by clemson, uga, ole miss, etc. we have guys like pyron, gibbs, justin thomas that are so good but we gotta get multiple on each side of the ball somehow

then we gotta do a better job at developing the 2/3* with coaching and s&c so by their 4th/5th year in the program they are at the level of athlete the blue chip programs have.

there’s a path forward but we gotta hope this staff is the one that can figure it out so we can get back to being a consistent 8+ win team for the first time in decades

Gt Recruits are generslly sharper than most. They take HS advance placement classes, have tutors, work out here in summer and take classes , AND IN 2.5 YEARS ARE READY TO GRADUATE.
WHAT IS THE PLAN TO GET OLD STAY OLD? Not a wide selection of specialty courses at tech.
CAN we ask them to train more and slow done their academic progress so they don't leave esrly?
SLOW THEIR PROGRESS

i don’t know that we have to do that. maybe if we had some more diverse grad programs we could keep guys around. i know domineck straight up said he liked our school but we didn’t have the program he needed so he left

Talking to a current player who is in same sitiation, but is hoping to get into gt mba program. The idea of slowing academic progress is a slippery slope. Some sort of track to being a starter needs to be in place by soph to junior time.

I disagree with lowering possessions. I think the ket to UGA is pace. Don't allow them to rotate that defense. Hurry up offense whole game.

yeah this has been the answer to great defenses the last few years. ohio state had the best performance against uga’s defense in a while. they spread the field with playmakers outside and went fast. you’re not going to be able to run the ball against uga the way they have recruited the interior lineman on d. only way to neutralize those guys is wearing them out. going slow or run heavy is just playing into their hands

Lobby for more law enforcement officers in Athens.
That won't work. The AJC had an article a couple of weeks ago that indicated that uga has a Director of Player Support and Operations (Gantt is his name) who's duties include being a liaison with the AthensCC PD. He has (per the article) repeatedly showed up as players were being arrested or booked and has a direct line with the Chief of Police. On the night of the unfortunate accident several weeks back that took the lives of 2 people, the chief of police was first notified of the incident by Gantt, not the police department. The chief called the police dispatch to make sure the people at the scene knew Gantt was on his way and to keep him filled in on what was going on. In another case, a player had an arrest warrant out for him and the police contacted Gant who said he would take care of it. The player played in Georgia’s game against Charleston Southern 2 days later despite the outstanding warrant, and didn't turn himself in to the police until four days after the game. He also, in violation of NCAA rules, put up bond for a recruit who was arrested (the jail later changed the records to indicate someone else put up the bond, but that was only after the Macon Telegraph asked about it).

Welp, this is certainly a well timed post given the Jalen Carter scenario that just broke. Those UGAg fellas really covered up some terrible stuff.
