Could you imagine what a high school team with him as the head coach would be like
I don't doubt that all this is true.

I also doubt if it will mean as much as a bucket of warm spit if we have two or three 1 - 11 seasons. Lewis isn't disdained for his lack of rapport with the players; that is seldom something that makes a huge difference with coaching success (See Saban, Lou or Devine, Dan). He was and is a measure of coaching incompetence at Tech because of how poorly coached his teams obviously were on the field and because he lost too boot. So far the present regime is not encouraging on either count.
I knew a players uncle very well during the BL years. The parents of the players were not informed of what was going on. Ross made sure the parents were informed about team schedule on away games, when they could see their kids etc. BL didn’t. Didn't help by benching Davis for Luginbill which lost support from the team. His best assistants didn’t follow him to Tech either. At least GOL came back but there were some tough years in there.

Exactly what I'm afraid of.

The last time we listened to the "big donors" we got Lewis. Let's hope that the desire for "… some excitement" (I'm quoting from a season ticket holder behind me in a game we were winning handily) doesn't lead to the same results. As I said before, the results so far are not encouraging.

I haven’t heard of any big donors who were rooting for Lewis. I think it was just Homer Rice picking the coach of the year from East Carolina. Lewis did have a good reputation, but his assistants staying at ECU was a red flag and a half.

I understand the Butch Jones and PJ Fleck comparisons, but not the Lewis ones.

Do you know donors who pushed for Lewis?

If I know Paul Johnson, he is cheering and rooting for our team, but not obsessed with it. He’s probably imagining all the stupid idiot fickle fan garbage he had to deal with every year...like last year when we also started 1-3. Our start is probably reinforcing his decision to step away for awhile, but probably still misses call-in questions from fans in Auburn.

We were 1-3 last year too.

Good catch. Of course, we didn’t have back-to-back non-P5 wins last year...or ever maybe...so we are wallowing in that too. But, yes, you are absolutely right.

If we wanted to win 6 games again we would have brought in an option coach and been locked in there due to the lack of talent that will play for a program that runs that.

Very little of what this staff is doing is for the present. It’s all future focused. It’s just rubbing a lot of people the wrong way because we aren’t used to losing like this. Unfortunately that is where our talent level has been. CPJ was a genius.

Doesn't explain the end of game mgt vs the citadel monster.
