I will say this for Yates. He may not start game 1, but whoever does is going to have to be really good in order to keep Yates off the field this season. I do not believe he will redshirt, personally. Bold prediction. :)
I do believe Yates will redshirt, but from the tape that I've seen he's the most college ready QB we've had in some time. He doesn't just have the athleticism, he's a good decision maker, and has great command/presence out there. I think Johnson is good enough to hold him off, and I don't think they'll burn his redshirt as a backup, but we'll see.

TK Chimezda, "big" Camp, Clayton, j Lee, Yondjouen, Mike Lockhart, and the whole OL Just looks to me like they gonna have to play a lot of FR. I would love to say a bunch of offensive players, just think we gotta first have some really good OL Gonna have to rely on defense this year and maybe ST.

I asked the question back some months ago and there was a discussion at that time, so that possibly is where you might have gotten that idea.

A player that caught my attention at the spring game was Yondjouen. Not just because of the name, but he made a couple of plays. Hope some of the unheralded players really step up this season, and hope there is a sleeper that by the end of the season has us all talking.

I am in Milton, and the folks around here are really high on Yates. Great leader and kid. Hope to see him make a contribution.

If he can play, Clayton for sure. I know he didn't reach the field much at UF, but I'm betting that was a coaching problem.

If he can't, Christian Malloy. I think it's a photo finish between him and Dontae Smith as to who backs up Mason, but I think Malloy wins that one.

On the watch list: Griffin the Younger, Hansen, Lee, and (with a bullet) Josh Blancato.

Wouldn't Howard and Mason be the top 2? With maybe Griffin or Malloy 3rd. I expect the rest of our roster of running backs will be leaving soon enough when they don't get to see the field.

Maybe so. I had understood that Howard would be an H-back in some sets and a fullback in others. That's where he could do the most damage, imho. It wouldn't be as big a change of pace, however; Malloy and Smith both cut mid 4.4 40s. , But if Coach wants him to be the rock-em-sock-em replacement for Mason, that'd be fine too.

Based on reading the article in today's AJC, I'm going to put Dylan Deveney on my list.
Very athletic guy at 6-6, 240 lbs. He got a late start on football concentrating first on Baseball and Basketball, so a very under-the-radar guy.
The article states he can through a 90 mph fastball and was the team leader in 3-point shooting for bball.
Also, good bloodlines, his Dad played TE at Temple ...

He can play 4 games and preserve his redshirt. That's a pretty good audition to see if he should be full time starter. He could always rs a later year, also. Imo, if he's not head and shoulder's better, rs him.

Deveney is up to 260 lbs right now and may grow into OT by next year.

260 lbs on a kid that's 6'6 isn't that big. Darren Waller is 6'6 255lbs and he's still considered lean for an NFL TE. Rob Gronkows is 6'6 265lbs. Greg Olsen is 6'5 255lbs.

That being said, if we can get some depth at TE, I would not be surprised to see Deveney moved to OT in the future.
