What makes a QB a P5 QB?

sims is also significantly better than graham in the passing game
The numbers say that. I am curious is to how Graham and Brown tied Calvin's record & we've not sniffed anything close to that now in 3 years with Sims under center.

In terms of passing talent yes. I still think he really struggles to find any receiver other than his primary target. Ironically, Yates was better at that aspect (but obviously not nearly the talent of Sims overall). The other real issue which makes all of this hard to judge is how little time he has to pass. Our OL pass blocking has been weak for 4 years. That makes it tough to judge the potential success of any QB. I know Sims makes lot of mistakes in the passing game including throwing in traffic. But I think a lot of that is lack of time to make a decision. So at the end, I think Sims struggles are a combo of lack of time and trying to force the issue.

The hell is this lie? Last year alone we had 3 recievers with more catches and yards than Brown as a freshman. The TD number is an oddity not some indication of a super good season.

McGowan- 37 catches - 467 yards (he had 7 TDs as well)
Carter- 37 catches - 489 yards
Gibbs - 26 catches for 470 yards
Sanders - 29 catches for 362

Brown as a freshman had 21 catches for 396 and 7 TDs. His tied Calvin's record but that doesn't mean his season was anywhere in the same universe as Calvin's freshman season or overall particularly noteworthy. Calvin as a Freshman 48 catches for 837 yards for reference.

He had 7 TDs. What part’s a lie, Jeff Sims playing better than Graham under a vastly improved OL? He still hasn’t eclipsed Graham’s win total so by that measure maybe you’re correct.

There were not many coaches who wanted to follow up Johnson for two reasons...

1) He was a hall of fame coach who was extremely successful
2) The roster was devoid of talent to run any offense other than CPJ's option attack
"What makes a QB a P5 QB?" I am not sure it can be defined. It is sort of like what Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart said about a case involving pornography. " I can't define it, but I know it when I see it."

lol this is such a bad point it’s ridiculous. touchdowns are nice but largely unpredictable when it comes to individual WRs. sims overall numbers are so much better than grahams i don’t really care that he hasn’t force fed 1 WR into setting a record

Graham had 12 TDs and 7 INTs despite not being a WB and having by some people’s account the worst OL ever. Sims best year he had 13 TDs and 13 INTs.

You all need to stop with the Sims is elite crap. It’s just flat out false. He’s a good running QB, but he’s not even a 40th percentile passer. What’s he ranked 90 of 92 this year for guys over 100 attempts?

Geez, the lengths some of you all will go to stand by your man.

Processing speed is the separating factor for QBs at all levels, provided a minimum of arm strength and short/medium range accuracy exist. It's mostly above the shoulders. Brady isn't the fastest or strongest QB by far, but he does have incredible processing speed. I bet he is also damned good at video games and would make a helluva fighter pilot. It's a lot like height, speed, and tackling ability....you got it getting off da bus and nobody is gonna coach it into you.

Two square pegs (outstanding athletes) being asked to fit round holes (play D-1 QB). Let's lay off both kids, huh?

you have to have some plus attributes about your game.

you need to have arm talent that jumps off the tape or you have to be an athletic stud that runs like a RB or power full back.

tonight showed you the difference

sims looks like one. the problem is he can’t stay healthy
No he doesn't, and correct, he can't. He looks good getting off the bus, but when it comes to split second decisions, not so much. Imagine the athleticism gap between Sims and Dewberry, so what's the difference.
