Going to a rival for more money is a chicken**** move.

Why is that? He's a coach. That's what coaches do. It's not like he is an alum...and even then, a man has to do what is in the best interest of his life goals/ambitions and what is in the best interest of his family. That's like suggesting that a man shouldn't leave Fox News for CNN, out of principle, even if by going there he and his family going to be better situated by making the move. If the man leaves for a better opportunity then wish him well and hope that his replacement can fill his shoes.

According to USA Today, Mac made $287,466 last year. UGA's old ST coach (Shane Beamer, Frank's boy) made $300,000 in 2017. Pretty comparable compensation. UGA is either really willing to open their wallets or Mac really wants out. Maybe being passed over for DC rubbed him the wrong way.

He's a better recruiter than beamer and Smart really wants all the recruiters he can get. He might be willing to throw lots of money at him

What is good for GT is to keep our only recruiter.

(yes I'm exaggerating...)

In this class:
James Graham (4*), Justice Dingle (4*), Jay King (4*), Juanyeh Thomas (3*), Dontae Smith (3*), JaQuez Jackson (3*), Charlie Thomas (3*).

That's 7 of our 18 signed commits, including all 3 of our 4* guys. (He was also on C'Bo, which would make 8 out of 19.)

His signees average rating on Rivals is 5.7. A 5.8 is a 4*. So not only is the volume of guys high, but they are all rated very highly too.

Shane recruited really well everywhere he's been, not just UGA but VT and USC. He got Alshon Jeffery to USC for example.

supposedly ugag.

We need to be more concerned with what is good for GT instead of individual coaches.

Unfortunately, what's good for GT isn't necessarily what's good for individual coaches. GT has had some BIG TIME coaches come through our football program, and those coaches moved on to other jobs. Heck, even one of our own left for a "bigger" job...Bill Curry.

Sure but GT to Bama isn't the same thing as GT to UGA. If Mac goes to Bama, or FSU, or Ohio State or whatever I'll understand it assuming he gets a raise that we can't afford. If he goes to UGA (or Clemson) then that's a completely different thing and I definitely think most fans will think less of him as a man.

That's my point. What's good for GT and what's good for the individual doesn't mean the same thing.

If UGA can double CAM's salary, then good for him. Just because UGA is our biggest (and most hated) rival as GT fans, doesn't mean it's the same for him. CAM isn't a GT grad, and just because we want our coaches to hate UGA, doesn't mean it precludes them from taking a job at UGA.

Just me, but if UGA gives CAM a significant raise and he takes it I wouldn't have any ill will towards him. CAM did good things for us here during his time, and CAM owes it to his family to do what's best for himself and them...not what's best for GT.

What makes people think it's UGA? The tweet says G5 - UGA isn't a G5 team, and I can't think of a GT rival that is a G5 team. All of this is of course if KQ means G5 to be "group of 5" which is the MWC and CUSA of the world, not to be confused with the power 5.

Nevermind I see that he must mean two different suitors.

You're taking this personally. And by this I mean a completely hypothetical situation where we don't know anything yet.

You'd be ok with him going to Bama but not to Clemson, which makes absolutely zero sense dude. It's a huge step up. Even if it's UGA it's a huge step up. You wouldn't take a job at Ruth Chris if you're tending at Applebees even though they're technically the competition? Put yourself in his shoes.

A lot of TECH people were ready for CBC to leave and CBR was one of the best things that ever happened to GT
