Super Six Baseball: Choosing baseball over football, Norcross’ Radcliff takes his game to a new level

“I wanted to go to college to play football and hopefully get to a school that would let me play both,” the 6-foot-4, 212-pound Norcross senior said. “Then I got to the point where I was outcompeting kids at camps for football, but not getting the bigger (scholarship) offers I was looking for. Then I found that some colleges were scared to lose me to baseball.

“On the baseball side, they were scared to lose me to football. So once I declared that I was baseball only (college recruitment and pro scouting) really took off. I committed to Georgia Tech. The MLB Draft stuff came in.”

I hope that this kid, Baron Radcliffe, Collin Hall, Brant Hurter, and Joseph Manelly make it through the draft to play for Tech next year. We are going to need all of them.

Being the baseball junkie I am, it looks like Kendall Simmons (2018 commit) is currently a projected first-round pick (BR has him at #9 - calls him a potential riser who could go #1 with a strong senior season). Still way early but worth noting.

Vic’s son, Baron Radcliff, was drafted in the 40th round of the First-Year Player Draft by the Atlanta Braves earlier in June. But he made a big decision long before he got the call from the hometown team.

“We already knew and they already knew that I was going to school," Baron said.
