My sister gave me The Elements of Style for Christmas when I was in high school.
I consider this a classic. Must-read. Same as Animal Farm and Brave New World. Lois Lowry and Margaret Atwood treading into Huxley territory. Not a classic, but "1984" should be required reading for HS students. Prophetic.
In Fairfax County VA 1984 is a book that is addressed in 12th Grade English. My daughter is a 12th Grade English Special Ed teacher. There are real challenges teaching those kids but every once in a while a light bulb comes on discussing 1984!I consider this a classic. Must-read. Same as Animal Farm and Brave New World. Lois Lowry and Margaret Atwood treading into Huxley territory.
I think they played at GT in the eighties. Joyce was a great point guard and James was a backup 5, but I can’t remember much about Wallace.James Joyce, Henry James, and maybe David Foster Wallace
That's so good.
Cornbread and BBQ SauceWe know you don't mean it. We're always worth your time.
Also, can somebody remind me what TF this thread is about?
Barbacoa, not barbecueCornbread and BBQ Sauce
I defer to myself, about 70 years ago: “Mr. Bear Squash-You-All-Flat.”Literature. They want your faves. I defer to my grandchildren
Deborah Dreisen “The Pout-Pout Fish”
Louise Colandro “There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly!”
Wallace was a role player, not the go to guyI think they played at GT in the eighties. Joyce was a great point guard and James was a backup 5, but I can’t remember much about Wallace.
I was required to read it in the 8th grade. Yes it is very prophetic. Watch the video by Paul Harvey "if I were the devil," He made it in the 60's. That commentary is scary. Not a classic, but "1984" should be required reading for HS students. Prophetic.
I bought this and Brave New World about 2 years ago. I read them both in HS but did not appreciate them. They are….horrifically accurate and prophetic. Not a classic, but "1984" should be required reading for HS students. Prophetic.
